16 Questions/WO

The Bottom Line Getting to know you, getting to know all about you... as the old song goes.

When I discovered Epinions member Prelude99's 16 Questions W/O, I almost opted out, since I covered many of the same topics in Corpgent's previous 20 Facts W/0. However, I decided to go ahead, despite the possible repetition, and reveal a few additional juicy items of self-disclosure.

1. How long have you been a member of Epinions? I initiated my experience with Epinions on June 29,2001, finding the website quite by accident, researching information about a singer/songwriter I went to college with years ago. I will soon be celebrating my 2nd Anniversary. Look for details on my first W/O sponsorship around the end of May. After struggling to write successful reviews for about 3-4 months, I finally started making some progress, and the rest, as they say, is history.

2. What do you do for a living? I work for a well known disability insurance carrier as a Case Manager and Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant. I am primarily working with a Caseload of Cancer, MS, Diabetes, and AIDS patients telephonically. I Coordinate service with vendors to provide the patients with retraining, job accommodations, and job placement assistance. I also provide forensic services to assist in claims decisions which includes assessment of claimant's transferable skills, occupational analyses, and labor market surveys.

3. Favorite food? This is a tough one, but I would have to say that my overall favorite is seafood. I like almost any type of fish, shrimp, and yes even raw oysters! I also like Chinese, Mexican, and anything barbequed. Despite my obvious connections, Italian is my least favorite cuisine. Tomato based dishes all taste the same to me, although I can tolerate Spaghetti and Eggplant Parmesan occasionally.

4. Most embarrassing moment? This ties into the last question, ironically. My most embarrassing moment occurred 4 years ago on a trip to Europe. We were flying into Rome and breakfast was served about an hour or so before landing. The last stretch was quite a bumpy ride. Almost as soon as I deplaned, I immediately vomited on the airport floor. After trying to clean up as much as possible in the Airport restroom, I had to ride all the way to the hotel, on the bus, with my new tour mates in my soiled, smelly clothes. It was quite a revolting experience. I still get embarrassed just thinking about it. Ugh!

5. What are your favorite topics to write about on Epinions? Movies, I love writing about movies, but also enjoy doing book, music, and travel reviews. Since the income share earnings are not that good in the Arts categories, I occasionally write other products reviews, but find it less gratifying.

6. Name a few things that you can't stand whatsoever: sitting in heavy traffic, laugh tracks on sitcoms, and insincerity of any kind.

7. Hobbies besides writing for Epinions, I enjoy golf, boating on the Tennessee River, and doing volunteer work in the community.

8. What kind of car do you drive? What color is it? I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport, black with brown interior. I bought it used with about 17,000 miles on it, and it now has close to 90,000. It has been a very reliable vehicle. However, I plan to trade it in within the next 6 to 9 months for a newer model.

9. Worst time you got into trouble when you were a kid? This is a hard one, since I was really introverted as a child, and never really took a lot of risks. I guess the worst thing I did was run away from home when I was about 4 or 5 years old. A little old lady found me wandering around and picked me up in her car and took me home.

10. Have you ever been on TV? If so, what for? I was on a local kiddie cartoon show for my birthday when I was around 5 or 6 years of old. I remember the hostess giving me a scoop of ice cream, which I promptly dropped on the floor while on screen.

11. What kind of music to you listen to? a little bit of almost everything. I have never really developed a taste for heavy metal or rap; but I listen to classical, jazz, rock, pop, blues, contemporary Christian, bluegrass and even a little opera.

12. What CD would your friends be surprised you own?... I have to confess that I have a CD of Gregorian Chants and a CD of Johnny Mathis duets.

13. Shoes or sandals? Being from the South, I prefer to go barefoot except in public, when I wear shoes and sandals, but not simultaneously.

14. Where do you buy most of your clothes? I am not really into clothes shopping, but when I do, I shop at Sears, or Kohls, and Goodys, wherever I can find a store with a decent selection in petite sizes.

15. Have you ever met any famous people? If so, who? I once shook hands with First Lady Of Alabama Cornelia Wallace, at a reception in the Governor's Mansion while attending Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama. I guess that pretty much gives away my age huh?

16. What are your favorite TV shows? I mostly watch movies and sporting events, (baseball, football, golf) but I will go out of my way to watch Frasier, the HBO series Six Feet Under- the only true, but slightly exaggerated Reality Series on TV, and Fox Network's Boston Public.

This was fun. I actually think I learned a few things about my self I didn't realize after writing this piece. Thanks to Prelude99 for the idea.
