The Bottom Line Get to know me a little better
After reading all the other terrific responses to Prelude99's Write Off, I wanted to crash the party, too (I'm horribly co-dependent! :P) 1. How long have you been a member of Epinions? I'm the baby of the group...just joined on May 5, but plan on being around a looooong time! I've been online since August '95, and I really wish I'd found Epinions sooner. 2. What do you do for a living? I run a movie theatre. It gets pretty hectic at times, and no, I don't usually get a chance to watch the movies. My kids do though, and they think it's the coolest job in the world! :) 3. Favorite food? Szechuan cooking - the hotter, the better. When I order wings, I tell them I want my lips to bleed and my tongue to blister. Yummy!! 4. Most embarrassing moment? I honestly can't recall ever being embarrassed (although I've embarrassed others quite a bit!). I'm a pretty easy going guy. 5. What are your favorite topics to write about on Epinions? Well, I only have 9 written so far, but it's looking like I'm going to be spending much of my time in Books, Music and Software. 6. Name a few things that you cant stand whatsoever: Only one thing really gets me going: people who have to go out of their way to make others miserable. Of course, that covers a lot of things, from the kids who won't stop horsing around in the theatre, to obnoxious drunks. Or rude people. Or obnoxious drunk rude kids horsing around in...um...what was the question again? 6. Hobbies? I play guitar and sing in a top 40/dance/rock band. I also like computer gaming (Unreal Tournament and Runescape are favorites), and hiking. And now, Epinions! 8. What kind of car do you drive? What color is it? I drive 1998 Ford Moneypit. It's two-toned - blue and rust. 9. Worst time you got into trouble when you were a kid? I came home from school to find my entire family and my landlord and her family waiting for me. Seems she was missing $50, and I was confined to the living room while they searched the house to no avail. Her attitude toward me was different after that, but the girl upstairs confessed to me years later that she was the one who had stolen it. :P Of course, I had lifted a couple of candy bars before that, so I understand why they suspected me, but it was still hard to take. 10. Have you ever been on TV? If so, what for? A few times, all local. I was in a brass quintet in high school that played at prisons (nothing like a captive audience!) and malls, etc. One of the prison Christmas concert was broadcast. About ten years ago, my rock band played a Food Collection benefit that was brodcast, and I've also done a few choral concerts that were shown. 11. What kind of music do you like to listen to? Everything! Seriously, I can't think of a genre of music I don't listen to, although I may not like every performer within every genre. Mainstays in my cd-changer are Enuff Z'nuff, Linkin Park, Dio, Stuck Mojo, Earl Klugh, Leonard Bernstien (The Chichester Psalms are my favorite modern compositions), the Chess soundtrack (British, not Broadway), and Thelonius Monk. My wife always kids me because I'll have the car radio tuned to NPR, with a metal tape sticking out of the cassette player. 12. What CD would your friends be surprised that you own? I'll have to echo Debbie26's reply: I listen to so many genres, I don't think anyone would be surprised by anything in my collection. 13. Shoes or sandals? Either, depending on the weather. 14. Where do you buy most of your clothes? I don't. My mother-in-law gives them to me as gifts, and I'm forced to wear them to keep my marriage together. You seriously think I'd dress myself like this? *looks down and shudders* 15. Have you ever met any famous people? If so, who? I've never thought about it 'till now, but actually quite a few. Lew Soloff (trumpet player for Blood, Sweat & Tears), Woody Herman (the last of the great big band leaders), Geddy Lee from Rush. The coolest two: The first weekend I worked at the theatre, Sigourney Weaver came in with her husband and a friend (they came to see "The Perfect Storm"). I was already nervous as heck because it was all new to me (and we were *very* busy that night), and I'm certain I made a fool of myself. I overcharged their concessions by a ridiculous amount (until her husband told me to take a breath and relax!). By the way, she likes Twizzlers. :) The best though, was recording Dave Brubeck's Pange Lingua with his trio and the Gregg Smith Singers. Even though he had conducted us, I was so nervous I asked my father to bring the sheet music up to Mr. Brubeck for him to sign. Wow...sorry this was so long! 16. What are your favorite TV shows? I only watch three: ER, Queer As Folk, and American Idol. I dunno what it is, Dawg; they just all get up there and do their thing. It's all good, Man. Nice job. *end Randy Jackson Mode* Whew! That's it! Thanks Prelude99 and everyone who participated in the Write Off for helping me to learn more about the great people here (his WO page is here: http://www.epinions.com/content_3267076228 ). Hope no one minded my intrusion. |
