| Donnie013's Full Review: Clorox UltimateCare Premium Bleach |
I always thought bleach was bleach! Didnt matter what kind. If it was meant to be poured into your washing machine, it would help make the whites whiter and brighter.
Boy, did I think wrong!
I didnt have enough laundry detergent left to do one small load but kept putting off buying it until I really needed to do more laundry. Its not like I have little kids at home where I need to wash clothes every two or three days. Since its just Rich and me, I can usually get away with doing the laundry once a week.
Well, last night my dog got sick - right on our bed! (Yeah, he sleeps with us. Zeus, our Toy Poodle hasnt been the same since hurricane Charley blew through here.)
I had no choice now but to hit the store for my laundry equipment: detergent, bleach (for whites), bleach (for colors) and fabric softener. At 10am, I made the half-hour drive to Sams Club at Murdock Circle to make my purchases. Half-hour later, I walked out with my first ever jug of Clorox Ultimate Care Premium Bleach.
Id never used this before and decided to give it a try. So, what made me buy this instead of my usual bottle of bleach? According to the label, this stuff has an extra buffering agent that is supposed to make your white clothes whiter. I wanted to try it!
Naturally, I washed my bedspread first using my bleach for colors - but thats another review.
Then I washed my two thin white blankets. These blankets arent the normal, slightly off white you would usually see in bedding. These are stark, brilliant white and I wanted to keep them that way.
I began filling the washer with water. Then I poured in the detergent. Added the fabric softener in its holding cup and reached for the bleach.
The first thing I noticed is that its not a thin liquid like Im used to seeing. This is a creamy, pearl white liquid that would give you the impression that it will also soften the clothes as well as clean them.
When the washing was done, as I lifted the blankets out of the washer, I noticed they were brighter than before. Much brighter! They were like new.
The bottle did indicate that for heavily soiled items, you should add 1-1/2 caps of bleach and pour it directly on the clothes (unlike the thinner bleach that tells you not to).
The second thing I noticed was that there no heavy chlorine smell that would ordinarily sting your nose. Actually, what I did smell was a very light scent. I cant put my finger (or my nose, for that matter) on a detailed description because it wasnt flowerly now was it powederly. I just cant describe the scent but it was very mild and very pleasant.
After I removed the blankets from the dryer, I noticed the difference immediately. They were actually whiter and brighter than when Id finished washing them the last time. This bleach really does hold up to its claim.
According to the bottle, this Clorox UltimateCare Premium Bleach is so great AND so safe for your fabrics, you can actually pour it directly on your clothes and let it sit for about three minutes to eradicate those stubborn stains. Now, thats a bleach I can live with!
The labels says that the ingredients are:
Sodium hydroxide / nonionic and anionic surfactants / sodium hypochlotite bleach
This stuff contains NO phosphates
Since I was so impressed with the way my blankets (yes, we use them in Florida .. this our winter and our temperatures have dropped to the low 40s), I did a load of my white laundry using my new bleach. I am SO impressed, I almost (notice I said almost) wish I had another load to do.
Really, this stuff is awesome.
Clorox UltimateCare Premium Bleach can be used in hot water as well as cold but I only use cold water anyway. But either temperature, it is working absolutely fantastic!
Naturally, there are precautions. After all, it is bleach!
It may cause eye and / skin irritation.
You must keep this out of reach of children and pets.
Do NOT mix this with other household cleaning products.
Do not allow contact with carpet, wood, painted and paper surfaces and colored clothes (after all, it IS bleach).
I am still so impressed, I could go on and on singing the praises of Clorox UltimateCare Premium Bleach - but I think Ive written enough here.
Thanks for reading
