I can’t remember where I first heard about Shout Color Catchers but I bet it was probably on here and I am still amazed at how many friends I have that still have not heard or have not tried these wonderful things.
Shout Color Catchers are a must have in every household that does any type of laundry. For those who have never heard of these they look very similar to fabric softener sheets but are little heavier and don’t have that strong of a scent. They measure about 7x7 and they are magical. Yes, I said magical..what else would you call a product that can literally stop your reds, blues and blacks from bleeding onto your whites and other light colored clothes.
I have read the box from front to back and can’t really find any magical ingredient on how it works. Shout just claims these are specially designed to work like a sponge and absorb and trap loose dyes in the wash and safely locking them away so they can’t redeposit them on your clothes. I have been using these for a few years now and not once have I been let down. I often throw a full one or half of one if I am not to sure about a load of laundry and it always amazes me at how the colors and darkness are all on that little sheet but never on my clothes. Fabrics and temperatures are also not an issue, I have used them on almost everything without a hitch.
Shout also claims that they cannot guarantee these working if there are large amounts of bleed in your laundry. If I know for sure something is going to bleed, like something red, I will throw 2 sheets as an extra precaution and I have never seen it not work. Even if your clothes don’t fade you still can see the dinginess from the water on these sheets. When you’re done you can remove it after your wash (if you can find it) or after the dryer. We now stock these regularly in our house. These run about $3.99 for a box of 24 and are well worth every penny.
If you have never tried Shout Color Catchers I highly recommend you do because once you see what these things catch you will never want to be without them again. The only thing that would be better then these is having clothes that actually repel the bleeds themselves.
