Only TEN?!? My favorite movies of all time!May 13 '03 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line I love movies. I watch a lot of them. So if you need some good movies to watch, check this list out. You won't be sorry. Before I begin...I feel I need to let you all know of my qualifications. I love movies. Since becoming a parent, I get to go to the theater far less often but my love of movies hasn't diminished either. So, that said, here is my list. Do with it what you will! 1. The Star Wars Trilogy Review by chakka26. Hands down the best movies ever. They are the reason theaters sell advance tickets and people camp out for movie openings. They are the reason that special effects keep advancing. They are the reason I think Harrison Ford is such an incredible hottie. 2. Titanic Review by me. Forget the hype and Leonardo DiCaprio. This movie is powerful and emotional and every bit deserving of its Best Picture award. Keep a box of tissues handy! 3. Say Anything Review by mfunk75. A classic for Generation X (and any other generation, in my opinion). Introduces Lloyd Dobbler, the man of every woman's dreams. Don't miss the boombox scene with In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel. That scene is the reason that song is my favorite ever! 4. Moulin Rouge Review by JediKermit. Not for everyone but everyone should give this movie a shot. Baz Luhrman works his movie mojo magic with this film resulting in a dazzling sensation of lights and music. If you even remotely enjoy musicals you must see this movie. And buy the soundtrack! 5. Chasing Amy Review by shadware. Now, I love all the Kevin Smith movies. So it was really hard to pick on as a favorite. I think this one covers it (though I was sorely tempted to pick Mallrats). Its funny, dramatic and engaging. Its so easy to overlook any faults with characters, writing and dialogue like this! 6. The Matrix Review by flamepillar. Wow. One of the few action movies out there that makes you think. Great story, great sets and costumes, great characters and actors. This movie is destined to be a sci-fi classic alongside the Star Wars trilogy. Can't hardly wait ot see the sequels! 7. Princess Bride Review by drdevience. This movie is simply not to be missed. The comedy, the action, the romance is all clever and entertaining. If for some reason you have missed this movie, don't delay, rent it today! 8. Empire Records Review by pantros. Not to be confused with the "teen movie phenomenon" (i.e. American Pie and its ilk), this movie is so quotable that its the perfect distraction on a stressful day. Don't forget the awesome music and the chance to see Renee and Liz before they were big! 9. The Fifth Element Review by me. If you even remotely enjoy sci-fi, fantasy or action movies, you must check out this movie. Very underrated and very funny. Keep your eyes out for Chris Tucker, my favorite part of this wonderful, imaginative and entertaining film! 10. The Mummy Review by supersaiyan23. Good, harmless fun. Not going to win any writing or acting awards but definitely my award for entertainment. Brendan Frasier and Rachel Weise are fabulous and the mythical feel to the movie is what makes it so enchanting to me. Its pretty darn hard to put these in any sort of order but I did my best. I have pretty eclectic taste when it comes to films but these are the cream of the crop. And you better believe I own the DVDs to each and every one of these. Perhaps I need to do another list...The Second Ten Best Movies Ever. Hmm. I best leave that to another day. Now get thee to a video store! |
