The Bottom Line What can you learn about me in one interview?
How long have you been a member of Epinions? I've been a member since May last year. I'd always had a desire to write reviews on films and music and I decided to give it a go. I think my reviews have become less self-conscious, richer with information and as a result my trust list has increased. What Do You Do For A Living? I do not have a job yet and am diagnosed as having a stress-related nervous disorder. all of which is related to experiences of harrasment and intimidation- I figure a few months living in the suburbs might help me calm down. Currently I'm a student doing Media Studies and English Literature. Among my books I'm studying is "Sherlock Holmes: A Study in Scarlet"; "Edward II" and "the Big Sleep". My final exams are in June. Favourite Food? Hard to say really. I love chocholate and find it addictive but eating too much of it in one go can be quite sickening, same with Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes. At a guess I'd say Egg Fried Rice with plenty of Soya Sauce. Most Embarrasing Moment I actually don't get embarrased easily. I'm the type of guy who can go alone onto an empty dancefloor and dance by myself without any drugs or alcohol (not that I drink or do drugs anyway). I think my funniest embarrasing moment was when I was with a science fiction group and they were holding a quiz. They sent me out with a £5 pound note to buy some extra pens for the 28 participants. I went to the Pound Shop where they had an offer of 6 pens for £1 so I bought 30 pens. When I got back I gave the group president the pens and he looked at them and told me they were T-Shirt felt pens and I hadn't noticed. I managed to talk him out of using one of the pens to write "Dunce" on my shirt and just sent me back to get a refund. The shop wouldn't refund me but they had another offer of boxes of thirty biros for £1 a box, so they let me swap- I came back with 150 pens in total! The president was exasperated but in the end the quiz went ahead. There were enogh pens for everyone and the first prize of the quiz was three boxes of pens! Favourite Topic on Epinions? I'm leaning towards films at the moment. I started out doing music reviews for Hip-Hop albums but I couldn't help feeling self-conscious when writing about controversial music. Most of my C.D.'s of other genres are compilations and anthologies rather than individual albums and it just feels lazy and unproductive doing reviews on them. I quite like describing films and trying to recreate the tension of the film so I think that'll be my focus from now on. A Few things you can't Stand Whatsoever I cannot stand people who try to make someone feel guilty for something they haven't even done. Particularly young people Whether this be someone playing mind games with a willing schmuck or forcing their views and beliefs onto other people through aggressive harrasment. This includes teaching methods in schools teaching children that if they refer to a blackboard as a "blackboard" then they are somehow being racist. For Christ's sake call a spade a spade, call a blackboard a blackboard and call a racist a racist!. I cannot stand men approaching me while I'm talking to a girl I've either known for a while or only just met and accusing me of being a pest. I also hate people who spread rumours around town about someone innocent and accusing them of being either a racist, a rapist, paedophile or stalker. I can't stand people who blame the victim, whether its in a rape case, domestic violence incident (whether the violence is directed at the woman or man) or school bullying. There is no excuse or ticket to treat your fellow man, woman, child or senior citzen with disrespect. Hobbies Mainly being on-line, but also films, T.V., nightclubbing and dancing. If I had the time I might take up cycling, acting and kickboxing as well. Worst Time You got into trouble as a kid was when I broke into a building site (I was part of a bad crowd back then). A guard caught me and I really had to dig in my heels to try and escape in vain, but I can't remember what else happened but for some reason it ended up alright and I didn't get into trouble, infact I can remember saying goodbye pleasantly to the guard who caught me. Ever been on T.V.? I was interviewed once for Channel 1 television. I was stopped in town by an interviewer and since I had nothing better to do I answered questions about my sex-life, which at that point in my life was non-existant (hmm....still is actually). They were doing a survey on if women prefer tall men and got the tape measure on me and everything. I was so embarrased when a class mate who used to bully me actually saw me in town and told me he'd seen me and taped the episode, otherwise he was friendly with me and asked how I was doing. What Kind of Car Do you Drive? I don't own a car yet, or own a license even. Sometimes I wish I did so that I could have freedom to get away from it all once in a while and go places in Britain I've never been before. Plus using public transport leads to the problem of interacting with other people- sometimes I meet really nice people on the bus or train, but when a paranoid nutter or a gang looking for a fight starts intimidating you in an enclosed space, it's horribe. I also quite fancy using the car stereo to play music to add to the driving experience- I love how music animates your surroundings when you're moving. I'd probably play Martika or It Bites a lot if I did. What Kind of music do you enjoy listening to? Old Disco records, and 80's music. My favourite seven bands are ABBA, Martika, Prince Sister Sledge, The Human League, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five. basically I love music that's happy and melodic, and that's why modern music turns me off. My only contemporary choices are the odd electronica album and whatever underground Hip-Hop album gets recommended to me here. What CD would your friends be surprised that you own? Well certainly I think my college classmates would find it odd to see N.W.A.'s Straight Outta Compton among my collection, mind you I'm so poshly spoken they probably think I'm a classical or Jazz fan (not that I dislike classical or Jazz, but I just never built up a collection). Shoes or Sandals I usually get sore feet from all that dancing, so shoes are far more comfortable. Sandals don't cushion my feet at all. Have you ever met any famous people? I met comedian Alexi Sayle who was present at the opening of a local left-wing bookstore, and got his autograph. I've also met actor Sylvestor McCoy from Doctor Who, and the band, the Human League. I remember telling them how inspiring and romantic I found their acting or music. My favourite was recently meeting British electro-diva Sophie Ellis Bextor (not very well known in America), she was very funny and I got to kiss her. What are your Favourite T.V. Shows?. I still enjoy some of the old Doctor Who and Star Trek episodes. I was also a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the first two seasons and then the series lost its edge, now I'm simply a Dawson's Creek fan- I'm still in love with its articulate and passionate characters.
