Alltel has very few towers, so when you're driving around town and talking on the phone, calls will get dropped. There is not a tower near where I live, so I can't even use the phone at home! When I make a call from home, I usually have to call the person back three or even four times to complete the call. And, sometimes they can't hear me on the other end.

When you're near one of their towers, everything usually works fine (unless the tower is down, which has happened a lot).

However, their plans are cheap and right now they're offering a free phone, so you can't beat that, but you pay for it in lousy service.
