Thanks Jason, and good luck with your card. I hope it works out. When you get around to posting, I'd be interested in knowing how well their card works (especially the HD ;-)

William,
You said:
"Have you considered that maybe you got a faulty card? If you don't get it running properly, see if they will send you another one. From what you describe it sounds like it may be either a driver issue with the card or actually bad hardware."
That is the path I am heading down right now. I talked with a rep of the company who seems to think either they sent the wrong one (PAL vs. NTSC)or else it was just a bad card. Either way they are sending another one over, so hopefully it will work out ok. Thanks for the update, and I changed my rating accordingly. I don't think that a person needs to discuss each variant of a software program in detail, but to at least touch on it to let a prospective buyer know what is available is important (at least to me).
Again, I am glad to hear that you have the program working well, and I look forward to having it work on my system also!

I assume with your knowledge of computers and especially in this particular area you can quickly rule out configuration problems one by one. Anyway, just thought I'd toss my idea out there for you ;-)

I don't have a radio card so I did not experience any problems with that. I also did not get the tuner card from CyberLink, just the software. I have my own V-Stream card that works fine with everything except the V-Stream remote does not work with the software.
I do not use much more than the television, video capture and audio functionality of the software. I do not subscribe to RSS feeds so I didn't include anything on that in the review.
I did mention that you can get instant weather, which is not really an RSS feed but it is up to the minute actual reporting on the main menu.
As far as games, I do not have any that were listed in the program. There is no information in the help file or in settings for games. I will add this information to the review. There really isn't much else to add from my personal experience, I use it basically as a replacement of PowerVCR II 3 for TIVO type function, for recording television shows and for playing music.

No it will only rip to WMA. I guess they are on some kind of deal with Microsoft for that (to keep from encroaching too much on media center maybe?)

Hey there, William. I recieved PowerCinema 5 as well, but am not having the same luck as you. Have you been able to get the radio working? On both of my computers it will work for about 4 minutes and then the app will freeze up. I have to go to the Windows Task Manager and end the process after which I can't restart the app without restarting the whole computer! This also happens with the video portion, although for some reason that stays stable longer. It almost seems as though a cache fills up and then dumps the app, although it seems that the radio would last longer if that were the case. The sad part is I plugged in the tuner card that Cyberlink sent with the software and it was the wrong one, therefore I didn't have the correct drivers. Did a search on the net and couldn't get them!
Also, what about all the other functionality such as the RSS feeds, games, weather, etc? I have used this more than anything else that the app offers, myself. I think the potential buyers would like to hear about the full suite of applications. Good review of the video portion of the app, but for my $100 I would want to see a little more.
Thanks for the review of PC5, and I am obviously in the minority in that I would like more before applying a VH. Obviously this is not the norm in my rating of your reviews, anyway. Glad to hear someone was able to get it working without any hitches!
