The Bottom Line Thanks, Prelude!

It was only last month I participated in Corpgent's write-off, but it seems nothing has stopped people from contributing to both that one and this one. Guess it isn't going to stop me either....

1. How long have you been a member of Epinions?

You timed this W/O just right! Exactly a year as of today. See my editorial!

2. What do you do for a living?

I am a PhD student at Loughborough University, researching Computational Mathematics and Parallel Computing. Or haven't I already said this in a few places? And yes, I'm actually getting money out of it, which is much better than living off student loans and bank overdrafts!

3. Favourite food?

That's a question I always find hard to answer. But I suppose that chicken, pizza and things like that come under this category.

4. Most embarrassing moment?

Trying to think up a suitable embarrassing moment to put here, but not getting very far.

5. What are your favourite topics to write about on Epinions?

Computer software/video games. At least the ones I actually care about and have the means of playing.

6. Name a few things you can't stand whatsoever:

Toxic fumes (read: tobacco smoke). Onions, peppers and some other vegetables, at least unless they're insignificant enough to ignore in whatever they're in. Being shouted or sworn at. Being the target of fuss made over some silly, irrational little thing like the toilet seat. People's inability to copy a spelling (especially my name) from right in front of their eyes.

7. Hobbies?

Doing almost anything on a computer, tenpin bowling, the odd game of chess when I have the time/chance, playing the piano, hanging out/having fun with my uni friends....

8. What kind of car do you drive? What colour is it?

I'm the one person in my immediate family who still hasn't started driving. I'll probably try and start one day. Guess there's something for the things to do before I turn 30 list....

9. Worst time you got into trouble when you were a kid?

Even back in those days I wasn't bad-natured enough to get into any trouble serious enough to recall here.

10. Have you ever been on TV? If so, what for?

A few years ago I was in the crowd of a Blue Peter show done at a CBBC Big Bash in Birmingham. But nobody told me they saw me on the screen, so I probably wasn't.

11. What kind of music do you like to listen to?

I'll listen to almost anything, but mostly pop/dance. I think what I said in my last W/O entry sums things up fairly well.

12. What CD would your friends be surprised that you own?

If I were to name one, I suppose it would be (OK, two CDs actually) The Sound of Magic, a compilation of fairly middle-of-the-road classics over the last few decades.

13. Shoes or sandals?

I'm mostly a trainers wearer for my day-to-day activities. Usually cheap and indurable ones. Of course the flipflops (also cheap, but which I haven't had to keep replacing) tend to come out in the summer.

14. Where do you buy most of your clothes?

Wherever I happen to find something I either like or need to top up my supply of for not too great a price.

15. Have you ever met any famous people? If so, who?

Depends on how you define "met" and "famous". I've been to a handful of live music performances by a few well-known artists, but not had any kind of actual contact with the stars. Or at least, I'm not sure who that was I briefly spoke to when I attended the aforementioned Blue Peter show.

16. What are your favourite TV shows?

Game shows, several of which are now sadly defunct (The Crystal Maze et al), and a few that still happen (Countdown, Weakest Link, WWTBA Millionaire). The odd bit of The Simpsons, Top of the Pops and various documentaries every now and again.
