This one goes up there in the category of movies with great previews, fantastic marketing, tons of box office hype, a big name leading man...and then a lot of letdown when you shell out the $18 for a pair of tickets.
The movie was set up well with Jim Carey hitting the talk show circuit and from the previews it appeared like a very dark epic pic...but it did not deliver.
The ending was a bit surprising and nicely set up throughout, but it seemed a bit predictable to me. There have been several movies along this line of "unpredictability" I suppose over the past few years and that may be the reason this ending was not all too shocking. IF this movie came out ten years ago it would have been GREAT.
From the previews I was expecting more of a religious, devilish, good vs. evil undertone that was lost in the movie itself. This movie would have been better if instead of going down the "Identity/The Sixth Sense" road it would have gone down the "Exorcist/Omen" road.
I'm also not too sure I can take Jim Carey seriously as it seemed to me like he was always joking around. I respect him as an actor and he did a solid job here, but I just don't think it was "his" role.
