At first, I thought, "great price, fast shipping, wow." Then I had to deal with a defective product, the defects of which I slowly discovered as I used it (a multi-function, printer/copier/scanner/fax). Though I have been working with the manufacturer in an attempt to fix the problems, I wanted to know my options.
I called Newegg.com just to get more information about returns and was advised that they would do nothing because I hadn't retained the original packaging (which was so large that I couldn't have kept it if I'd wanted to). I NEVER received anything from Newegg.com advising me that I needed to retain the original shipping materials. How many people out there are getting screwed because Newegg.com doesn't make its policy clear?
I wanted to give my opinion to someone other than a mere CSR who couldn't do anything about it and probably wouldn't even pass on my comments, anyway. Although I pursued the issue far enough to have spoken with three CSR's, all they would say was that they couldn't change the policy (duh), and there was no one I could talk to, because all the higher-ups don't have direct lines?!! Yeah, right.
Ironically, when you call Newegg.com, you first get a recording that says, "We are proud to announce that each of our customer service representatives are fully skilled and trained to solve your issue the first time you call."
Needless to say, I won't be calling them again, and I HIGHLY recommend that you don't do business with them, either.
