I have a lot of body hair, I hate to admit, mostly on my
calves and armpits. I think it is the reason I am itchy
and have scars on my legs- my leg hairs, if unattended,
poke into tighter jeans/opaque stockings and pull up and down. Each hair is thick.
I've been shaving since I was 10, and shaving takes a lot of time and it's messy. I have to wet my legs, put on shaving lotion, and I cut myself sometimes leaving scars, rinse, towel off. Not only that, the stubble returns in mere hours! I can't see it then unless I look really close, but I can feel it. With my armpits, I have to shave everyday, and even then I can see the shadow of the hair.
I got my first epilady at Ross, and most of the packages were beat up- probably because people returned them due to "pain". At first, I didn't like it because it hurt, but then I realized it DID NOT HURT ON SOME AREAS especially when you get used to it. It works best on short (not too short or it won't work), thick hairs such as my calves and armpits, my most needed areas!
When my epilady broke after I took it apart, I just shaved. But I didn't shave every day and I still had a bunch of stubble when I did. Epilady solved those problems. I knew I had to get another one! That is when I discovered ebay. When the hair gets long enough to "epilady" after shaving, I do that. This leaves my skin hairless for a few days without stubble. Epiladying takes time because you have to make several passes, but there is NO preparation, no mess, no water, no lotions involved. And I can stop whenever I want with effective results- the hair IS thinned. When the hair starts to come in, I can either epilady, or shave (there would be less hairs because they don't all grow back at the same rate), and the stubble is less -therefore less noticable. Doing both is a great combination- if I epilady FIRST I can get the thick hairs, and THEN shaving gets the fine hairs that leave less noticable stubble. And since the hair is pulled out at the root with the epilady, it takes more time to grow in.
My epilady is my favorite hair removal product until I can afford laser hair removal (which I haven't tried).
