| qualco99's Full Review: Yamaha GX 500 Stereo Mini System |
It is strange to me that Epinions has its est. prise at $600, because that's not right. The retail price, I think, is $399, and I bought mine for $279 at Best Buy.
The Sound
The sound quality of this system is superb. I have never even gone up any where close to maximum volume, because it's so powerful, it would probably break my window. Yamaha has this thing they call Ymersion technology, which you will find in this system. One button to activate it makes the sound quality fuller and much more dynamic. you can turn it off, but why would you want to.
The Exterior
One thing I really like is the way this stereo looks. The one I bought is a little different than the picture featured on this sight, because it has hard wood speakers. They are covered with high quality hard wood, rather than black, and look very classy and stylish. I also like to take off the speaker covers to show off the actual speakers to my friends!
The Price
You will probably find this system for around $300. I was about to pay $299 by ordering the black version from a catalog. Then I decided to go to Best Buy. I found the wood-speaker version for $279, and decided to buy it. It turned out that I was much happier with the wood than the black anyway. Some stores like SoundTrack have it for $399, but don't buy it there. There are plenty of places where you can buy this for under $300 easily. Check catalogs, the internet, whatever.
All around, this is a fantastic system, and is very affordable, too.
