I don't know what to call this poem

The Bottom Line Good place for poems.

It's funny how the mind plays tricks while one sleeps. I try my best not to think the worst and to keep positive but my worst fear creeps in.

I didn't have any intention of writing a poem, but like most of my poems it just came to me while doing something else. I always need to sit and write what comes out and hope it is worth-while.

Thanks for reading. Smiles, Char

As I sleep
The dreams they come
To haunt me in the night.

My worst fears surface
As I lay in bed
My mind struggles in the night.

Dreadful news is borne
Never stopping, insidious
On it comes in the night.

I wake up
My heart is pounding
Thumping, thumping in the night.

Sick to my tummy
It's like a stone
Heavy in the night.

It's hard to breath
My chest is tight
I need air in the night.

Up I get
For I must see
What's at my door in the night.

My doorstep is empty
No chaplain in green
Bringing tragedy in the night.

AJ, please come home safe to me. I love you, Mom
