Katy, thanks! You are right, no parent or family should ever have to go through times like this :O(
I am thankful for everyday that goes by with no knock at my door. My heart jumps and start pounding each time anyone comes to my door. It is not fun to walk around feeling spooked all the time.
I will just be so happy to have him home safe.
Thanks so much for your comment.

Listen to the Grannie... (Reply to this comment)

Virginia said it better than I can, Char. It hurts me to see others like you, living in fear for their loved ones... especially when it's their children. I remember our family having similar thoughts and worries during the Viet Nam era. My God, will this world ever learn?
Hugs, hopes, thoughts & prayers for you and yours, dear.

Virginia, thanks! Many prayers are needed and greatly appreciated at this time. I know I've said this way too many times, but I will be so happy and relieved when he is home safe. I'm hoping I will never have to worry about a knock on the door again.
I know there are too many moms, dads, wives sitting home worried about their loved ones...I just never understood the stress and fear until my own son was put in danger.
Gosh, I just want him home safe and sound. (sigh...BIG sigh)

I Know the Feeling - (Reply to this comment)

and you expressed it so beautifully in your poem.
Of course you want AJ home - he is somewhere in your every thought. I PRAY for AJ as well as the rest of the brave young men out there..and I pray for you and Mike, Char. I know that staying home and waiting is almost beyond bearing - but we do it. Putting it in writing, and in beautiful poetry will help - and God bless you.

Kath,
Thank you. I want AJ home safe so bad yearning doesn't begin to describe the feeling.
I have been trying to keep busy and do ok most days, but the darn nights and the horrible nightmares are affecting my sleep very badly.
I will be so happy and relieved when he is home and I can give him a hug and see his bright blue eyes, cheesy grin and hear him say "Hi Momma."
I won't even get frustrated when he introduces me to his friends as "My little Momma!" (he's around 5'10 and I'm 5'2, well almost 5'2)
I just really want him home safe.
Thanks so much for the prayers; I know they help and will bring him home safe to me.
