Pros:Easy to use, has all the basic and some advanced codes needed for websites.
Cons:Semi-complicated interface--cluttered. Can be confusing at times.
The Bottom Line: A great program for those who are just starting the HTML life. At a price like $50(or $150[see below]) it's a steal--go for it.
I am sure many of you haven't really even heard of Coffee Cup Software. I know I didn't until I got really interested in webpages (mine isn't finished) and decided to look for software to build my webpage--at a decent price. After weeks upon weeks of seeing great programs like Dreamweaver and Frontpage, but also very expensive, I decided to talk to a friend about webpage software. She recommended that I check out Coffee Cup Software. So I did...
First Impressions
Before I decided to buy the program I had to download it just to see how it worked. Since I have made various "hum-dumb" webpages I was looking for software that could do more than what I was used to. Their website allows for you to download the program for a trial of 30 days. Enough to get a feel for the program, which is great.
Upon buying the package, (If you go to their site, you can buy their $150 package which gives you 12 programs. All of them are things you can use for your webpage, and it includes Coffee Cup Software HTML Editor.) I knew I was going to a get a good program for my webpage b/c I was able to mess around with the trial version. I think, had I not been able to do that, I might not have gotten it.
About Coffee Cup HTML Editor
Coffee Cup designed some great HTML software. Why you ask? Well, not only is the program cheap, but you don't have to be online to use it. Some sites require that you are online to do every thing--Coffee Cup does not. The software is so nice, it includes the codes most will need to get their site running. They are all on the sidebar-interface, making them easy to get to. Not to mention, it allows you to see what your code is looking like so far by allowing you to do a "webpage" view. Oh! The program even has an HTML Checker--kinda like a spell checker for HTML codes (it makes sure everything goes right and is in the right place).
Buying Coffee Cup HTML Editor The makers of the software were really thinking--in terms of being able to buy a program--ahead. I think it's great that they offer you two options for buying the program and getting it. One way, is your average "I pay, and wait until the shipped product arrives."--They send the discs to you, anywhere. And the other, more direct "I pay, I get it now."--Where you pay, and can download the programs right onto your computer.
I think that it's great that the makers allowed that, it makes it easy for you to go and do your business. Easy, fast, effective.
Using the Coffee Cup HTML Editor The makers of the product did a good job here. I found it easy to get around the product and easy to understand. Though, I have taken webpages classes, and designed so old webpages--I think almost any one could pick up on it. It really isn't that hard, and the program can correct any mistakes you might make when going about designing your page.
There was one thing I didn't like about using the program, though. It was that the program interface is cluttered. There's a whole bunch of buttons and sidebars and what-nots' that can really really complicate what you are trying to do. For the most part, though, I got by it. Everything in the program is designed nicely (with the user in mind).
Price
Well, there are two ways you can get it.
* One, you can buy this product alone for the great price of $50 dollars(not including shipping and handling--or you could download it w/out having to pay s&h).
* Two, you can buy this product as their big(but ever so cheep) package deal. The package, which is what I bought, includes 12 programs--all of which you can find some use for when making a webpage. Progarms like "Fire-Starter" which allow you to put FLASH effects on your webpage, or Password Applet which allow you to block of pages to certain people all by a single password. The 12 programs include Coffee Cup HTML Editor. All for a nice price of $150 dollars (you can download it or have it sent to you).
Ease of use
I found it easy to use, though I have done HTML before. The product is great. The average person should be able to pick up on it really really quickly--and if they might mess up, the HTML checker can fix problems for them. It's really a kewl program with lots of nice features that allow the user to control what's going on.
Final Thoughts
This is a great program for those of you who want to start a webpage, but aren't to sure how to do HTML. It doesn't really teach you, but the HELP bar can help you out. It's not too hard to use, and it was made with the user in mind. I liked the program a lot, mainly b/c it was a real time-saver for me and my site (though, it's not all done yet). I would have to say, at a price like $50 dollars--you can't beat that. Or even buying the big package where you get 12 programs for $150--that's practically a steal!
With deals like that, I'd buy before they realize they a losing their minds.
Hope I helped! ^_^
