This SUV is very hard to distinguish from the CX-7, but it's completely different. It has a 6 instead of a turbo 4, the grille and panel lines are all same-looking but different when you look at them side by side. The dash and inside trim is different too.
I'm driving a 04 MPV now which is just rock solid at 60,000 miles, but it lacks things like power seats and temp control.
2nd row in CX-9 are better than MPV, but center position is very hard. Room is fine in 3rd row, better than Pilot or Highlander or Tahoe, but still a bit claustrophobic for grown ups. Seats in MPV are ok for kids, a bit low on floor for grownups, but does not feel closed in. Third row in MPV is better than center 2nd row on CX-9. We had a pilot which we traded because it cost soooooo much when a $15,000 used MPV would do fine. Much less cargo behind 3rd seat than MPV, which is discontinued in US because americans won't buy a minivan this small anymore. Too bad becuase the new Japanese one is just fabulous with turbo-4 and lazy boy 2nd row, temp control and the works. They should have given the new MPV to L-M and called it a Lincoln. They should also give this one to Lincoln as a 3 row crossover to complement the Navigator.
The car has plenty of power with 260 or so horses, and awd so grip is good, feels better ride than the MPV, but didn't try to do any donuts, which the MPV is actually pretty good at doing with 200 hp.
top of the line has back up cam, but not much use in parking for figuring out where to go
Nav screen has tilt button, but did not tell us which way to turn out the parking lot. Radio and temp functions have their own FL display so you don't have to switch LCD displays to use radio.
Has walkman jack, but no available cassette which they had in past generation modular radios.
