Excellent Advice! (Reply to this comment)
by marybatson
I have friends that have children two and three-years old with the passy. We started to use one when Will turned 2 months old, and it helped. Then when he turned 6 months old we tried to take it away. Ohmygosh what a struggle. Then a few weeks later we moved, and because he was so insecure with his new surroundings we let him keep it for another month. Like you, it was a rough few days, but then he forgot about his security blanket, so to speak and the passy was no more.
Great job!

Great advice! (Reply to this comment)

I was reluctant to use a pacifier with my kids, but people get giving them to me. Lack of creativity in the gift-giving department, I think. I had made up my mind they would only be used if necessary, and wouldn't be used after the 1 year mark.
I was very lucky, I think. My oldest son would spit his out at us and laugh -- didn't want it anymore. My little one never did care for his. He prefers the thumb. Like pacifiers, the thumb thing is cute for a while, but we're going to have a hard time breaking him of it in the long run. We're trying now, but it ain't workin'! Any advice on that???
Again, great job!

My daughter never used a pacifier. I wanted and tried to get her to at times. But as I saw other parents trying to break their children of the pacifiers, I was happy Lauren was never interested. Our daycare won't allow children pacifiers in the Toddler 1 class which is for around 15-24 months.
Again, nice review!

That is my baby :) .
I'm glad she didn't need to use them for very long. It was fine for the couple of months that she used them, but I couldn't imagine her still using them. She has too much fun putting things in her mouth and exploring them!

If that is your baby on your profile picture, she is beautiful. OK -- even if it is not your baby, she is still beautiful!
You wrote a really good review. I personally don't like pacifiers. Babies get too dependent on them. My babies never were big pacifier babies, but some of the kids in my day care are. It is really hard on the parents not to mention the babies!
