Gastric Bypass saved MY life, but it is not a good idea to have one for simply cosmetic reasons.

on your bravery, and I'm so happy it has worked well for you. An update on this editorial would be great. I have a good friend who had the Fobe method of gastric bypass and has lost 125 pounds. She looks and feels much better, in particular her self esteem. She does, of course have to watch her food intake, and the type of food she eats.

Best of luck to you!

Hi,
I am Sandy, I exsist in Oklahoma City. I weigh 232 lbs and I go to work, and come home. I am miserable and life hasn't been a lot of fun this last 2 years. I have no energy and am Depressed day in and out. I have read many stories, but felt compelled to write and say that your story, is an encouragement to me. I go to my Dr. tomorrow 3 5 04 to discuss "my gastric Bypass" possibility. Pray that I am accepted, so my life can become a LIFE again.
Thank you for listening to me and I hope to hear from you. I would love to visit with you. I will come back to your story and hope for a response.
Sandy

.....wonderful to read.

My daughter had the gastric bypass as well. Just over a year later and 150 pounds lighter her whole life is new.

She also had wound problems and had to have it packed daily. I went with her to one Dr. appointment to try and learn to do it. I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't what I saw. I almost passed out.....seeing my little girl with that huge wound was too much for this Mommy. My hubby was able to do it for her, thank goodness.

Just as you said, she had problems for a while, but would do it all over again. She is a new person and has fun with her kids and does things she only dreamed of doing.

The saggy baggy skin bothers her, but nearly so much as the weight that she once carried around in it.

Thank you so much for writing this wonderful piece. I hope to see some new reviews by you in the near future. God Bless and Make it a great day.........kath

Thank you for sharing this very personal story. I know it will help others. You give a really clear idea of what to expect and unfortunately worst case scenario. I hope you are recovering nicely now. Keep the faith!
