I am a customer of E*Trade brokerage due to their purchase of Brown & Co. in 2006. I was very happy with Brown & Co. and E*Trade does a satisfactory job of executing orders and sending me statements.
In my visits to the brokerage website, I was attracted to the ads for their mortgage banking services. I am currently purchasing a house and shopping for a mortgage, so I filled out the E*Trade mortgage request form and within twenty-four hours contacted by a rep. He reached me on my cell phone and since I was driving at the time, I asked if we could talk again. He asked me for the best time to call--which I gave him.
That was it! I never heard from him again! Today I called to ask to speak to a "manager" and was ultimately connected to a voice mailbox. I left a message that I would like to talk to him about my mortgage needs. As of this writing, several hours later, I have heard nothing.
Perhaps I'll hear from him tomorrow; however, my concern is that E*Trade is either over-burdened with mortgage requests or there are "loan officers" who have little dedication to customer service. If I do hear from the "manager," my request will be for an experienced person who can help me.
I have contacted other Internet providers and received some excellent responses. And some unsatisfactory ones, as well. A very disappointing experience.
