I have just started using the Rodan and Fields Calm line and I love it I tried Proactiv but it was to harsh for me. The calm line works good for my skin it doesn't dry it out and my skin is alot clearer. Hope this helps you.

Lisa,
Sorry I should have been more specific, the line I'm referring to isn't called Proactive, but it is made by Rodan & Fields. There are 4 systems (CALM, RADIANT, CLEAN, & COMPOUND) similar to Proactive (multi step systems) formulated for specific skin problems (blemishes, rosacea etc) The one in particular I'm interested about is called Rodan & Fields CALM & it is a 3 step "Regimen for Blemishes and Breakouts/Facial Redness"
According to the website (RodanAndFields.com): "The Rodan & Fields CALMŪ Regimen treats breakouts, blemishes, and facial redness in a single Multi-Med Therapy system. Facial redness, discomfort and irritation subside. Breakouts and blemishes are healed and future breakouts are prevented without dry, irritated skin. At last, the skin is smooth, clear, and calm. Rodan & Fields CALMŪ may help some of the conditions of rosacea."
It seems to have the same claims as Proactive & is made by Rodan & Fields.. I was just wondering what the difference is, aside from the price, and if it is any good. I read the testimonials on the website, but that's kind of a biased opinion since the "bad" reviews never get posted and I couldn't find the products listed on epinions.
Thanks :)

Pam,
I am familiar with several of the ProActiv products but am unsure which line you are referring to.
Best of luck...

Thanks for the suggestions Lisa. :) I was looking around this website and found the link to RodanAndFields.com where they advertise more problem specific skin care systems like Proactive.
I was wondering if you or anyone else has heard anything about that new(?) line of skincare products. It seems to be more targeted towards specific skin problems then Proactive was(Proactive seems like a 'generic' solve all solution compared to this stuff), so I'm wondering if it actually lives up to it's claim. At $85 per 60day supply, I'm saving it as my last resort. I had never seen this product advertised by Rodan & Fields before and was just wondering if anyone has tried it or had success/horror stories about it?
Thanks!

Pam,
You might try using their deep cleanser, but I recommend purchasing it from QVC, as the prices are better. It seems to offer more exfoliating/pore cleansing properties. Also, while the mask didn't appeal to me, it now serves as a good overnight spot treatment, used in addition to the lotion. Additionally there are periods of time when it is warranted to get an oral antibiotic, which can assist by working from the inside, and helping to clear those 'really tough spells'. I totally understand your frustrations and wish you the best.

tired of being plagued by pimples :( (Reply to this comment)

Your review was excellent & very informative. I've been a loyal Proactive user for 3-4 years now and it has helped clear my skin tremendously! For a while, my skin was completely clear which was nice while it lasted!
However, I had ordered the 60day supply 3 step system they show on tv and about a year ago I ran out of the cleanser. I called and ordered more & had it 'rushed delivery', but for whatever reason (after numerous phone calls,no one could give me an explaination), it took over a month & 1/2 for the cleanser to get to my house so by then I had started breaking out all over again & worse then I had EVER broken out before!
I figured since I was off the system for almost 2 months, that I'd give it some time to rework it's way back into my system but it seems as tho my skin just stopped responding to it. *sigh* I'm now back to square 1 again! I've been breaking out since I was about 12/13 & am now 23 and thought this phase of my life would be over with already! But Proactive was a gem while it worked!

Lisa,
Thank you for sharing your experience with Proactiv. I contemplated purchasing this product for about a year but hesitated because all of the products that I've tried in the past simply haven't worked. I finally decided to order it today. After placing my order, I found your review and it made me feel much more confident about my purchase.
Thanks again!

Dina,
Sometimes that can be normal, initially, a sign that your pores are unclogging. I couldn't believe what all was exiting my pores. I had no clue that they were as clogged as they were ***yuck***! Hang in there. Not every system is right for everyone, but this system certainly has helped me lots!!!!!
Hugs~~

I went and ordered the $15 trial size after reading this. It came in the mail the other day and I've begun the process. I actually seem to be breaking out even more since starting it. Is that normal? I figured I'd try it for two weeks and see if it gets better. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for writing this!

Thanks for the great review. It was very informative and helped me decide to try Proactiv. They just started selling Proactiv at my mall and my mom is picking it up for me today. I can't wait to give it a try!!

Thanks for the information Melissa. I certainly understand the challenges of acne and am so glad that the prescription is working for you!
If this system didn't work, I was headed to the Dermatologist. Thankfully this system has helped tremendously!
Take care!

I've never tried Proactiv.... (Reply to this comment)
by melissasrn, in Wellness & Beauty
...but I finally decided enough was enough (it only took 20+ years!) and began seeing a dermatologist a few months ago. He suggested the biggie: Accutane. And so far so good (I'm taking the generic though as I can get it for $5 per month with my insurance).
I sure hope this ends my acne problems once and for all!!
Great review :-)
