The Bottom Line Neener, neener, neener.. I'm a bigger dork than ALL of you combined!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone! I love these w/o's and decided I had to join this one as well. If you want to check out what this little Guilty Pleasure w/o is about, check out Minorthreat78's w/o details
------------

Actually this idea for a w/o started me thinking about starting a w/o of my own (has anyone done a "Splurge" w/o, such as what is the one thing in the world you splurge on that you can't live without?).. I started thinking about "guilty pleasures" and all the little things I could write about. I could write about how much I love smoking (no really, I do), or maybe my obsession with Clay Aiken from A.I... I could even write about how I waited in line for 16 hours to get tickets for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, or how that I can answer almost every single Star Wars Trivial Pursuit question. I could talk about how I love the Xanth novels or the fact that I've read David Eddings' and Robert Jordan's books dozens of times... But I decided to write about something so completely off the wall, that only my closest friends know about this little addiction.

So, Jen.. What IS your guilty pleasure, you ask?

Pokemon. I'll say it loud and proud -- I love Pikachu. I've seen both movies, I own a talking Pikachu doll, and I regularly watch the cartoons.

I wanted to name one of my cats Pikachu, but my husband wouldn't let me.

There is just something about that little yellow creature that I find irresistably attractive and adorable. I've had my talking Pikachu doll for about four years, and I STILL play with it to this day (yes, I really am 23).

For those who lived underneath a rock, Pokemon is a japanese anime style cartoon. It is about this world where trainers catch and train (duh) different animals -- called Pokemon. This was HUGE a few years ago. It started out as a cartoon series and a video game line. The cartoon series centers around a would-be Pokemon trainer wanna be named Ash Ketchum. All wanna-be Pokemon trainers sign up and receive their first Pokemon to train, but of course Ash wakes up late.. and when he arrives at the training center, all the regular Pokemon are taken. His rival laughs at Ash's misfortune as he walks out with his new Charmeleon (a walking lizard type animal which breaths fire). Of course, the kindly old Professor has another Pokemon, one which he never intended to give to a newbie. This Pokemon is Pikachu, an adorable yellow mouse/catlike thing that commands electricity. Of course, Pikachu isn't that friendly and immediately electrocutes Ash.

The following episodes, Ash is joined by Misty and Brock. Ash and Pikachu eventually become good friends. They journey through the world, catching and training more Pokemon so they become stronger. They have tournaments and Ash travels through the land trying to become the "Greatest Pokemon Master of them All." There are, of course, bad guys -- Team Rocket, a bumbling pair of villains named Jesse and James.

I'm glossing over a lot here because I really don't feel like taking the time to explain the intricacies of Pokemon.

All I know is that even though the cartoon is oriented towards children, I still love it. I know it's silly, I know they are blatantly obvious with the morals of the story, and I know that Pokemon are dumb -- but I'm sorry, Pikachu is the most adorable creature, ever.. and that makes the series all worthwhile.

I even used to have a Pikachu key chain that said "Pika Pika Chu" when you pushed its tummy. Did I mention that Pokemon can only say their names or variations of them? So Pikachu walks around saying things like "Pika Pika," "Chuuuuuu," and "Pikachu." That just adds to Pikachu's already considerable cuteness factor.

That's right. I'm a dork. A dork who loves Pokemon. So there, plbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb.
