It is absolutely true that Abebooks is a very good place to find books, but it is deceitful for customers as you end up paying more than what you thought. Indeed, they are a Canadian company and you will be charged a foreign fee by your bank, even if you pay with your American credit card for a book sold by an American bookseller. This is incredible as they have both a website .ca and .com.

...your positive sentiments about abebooks. I've lost count of how many books I've located, partial sets I've completed, etc., at very affordable prices and never been burned. And best of all, it's a way for small-town used bookstores (including a couple of ours) to stay in business. There is positively nothing not to like.
Excellent, accurate, thorough treatment. I'll be moving my own review over here now that they're listed on E.c.

ABE Books has been invaluable to me and my continuing rare Star Trek Book collection (which now totals over 600).
I typically use ABE as a last resort, but when I do, I almost always find what I'm looking for.
