Isle of MANCHESTER??? (Reply to this comment)
by majorbonkers
What on earth is the Isle of MANCHESTER??? This lot can only have been written by an American. Many of us who live on the mainland of Britain would prefer it if Manchester were indeed an island, but alas it is not. Douglas is the capital of the Isle of MAN, which is not an abbreviation for Manchester and is mercifully some distance away from it.

I'm glad you like the Bee Gee's music as well. I am waiting patiently to read your Toothless Wonder DVD review.

As always, I enjoy your writing and this time was no different. I sometimes find myself raiding my parents CD collection just to listen to the beegees & they truly are "clean and easy to listen to".

The way you talk about the beegees saying that you haven't heard a song you dislike from them, thats kind of how I feel about Motley Crue, so I know where you're coming from.

Thank you JAG for another lesson in rock n roll. It was as always greatly enjoyed...

The Motley Kid

P.S
I'll review the Benoit DVD soon, Im just watching it over and over so I'll have plenty to say about it. Thanks.

Re: Any Gibb??! - THANKS EVER SO MUCH JAN FOR FINDING THAT ERROR (Reply to this comment)
by JAGUARDOG
I really do appreciate you finding that typo for me, more than you know. I challenge anyone to please help me find these kind of stupid errors because I hate them in my own reviews very much.

I appreciate the apple it was very tasty. Yes you are correct that not all good bands are squeaky clean but a lot of those are the ones that started after the 80's in most cases. Some exceptions are those that still did drugs and traveled in very bad company like the Wilson Brothers of "The Beach Boys" to name the biggest I guess?

Thank you for the review!

Each time I hear The Bee Gees on the radio, I can tell at once it's them, and I too seem to like every their song that I hear. I don't know if I'm ready to buy their CD yet, I guess I'm about to, somewhere really soon. Ain't there quite an assortment to choose from..

Btw, I too don't think squeaky clean bands are bad, while some of them indeed are absolutely terrible - there still are bands that are pure fun and really enjoyable without being bad boys/girls.. I think I like it.

:)

I was aware of the #1 single "Islands In The Stream" sung by "Kenny Rogers" and "Dolly Parton". I am not to familiar with much by Celine Dion yet but thanks for the information.

The Bee Gee's wrote tons of hits for other artists "Islands in the stream" for one.

Have you heard the song with Celine Dion singing on the "one night only c.d. ???
Incredible!!

by JAGUARDOG
I'm glad you are also a "Bee Gees" Fan Lorace. You made me laugh talking about your hubby and that song. It's great to get a good belly laugh or giggle early in the morning to start your day off on a good foot some days and I needed that. I am smiling as I type this and the song is stuck in my head "How can you mend a broken heart, how can a loser ever win, please help me mend a broken heart, and let me live again".

And I am crazy over the Bee Gee's and was so sad when I heard that Maurice had died! There is no other group I know of that is so consistently terrific. It's strange - I try to listen objectively and realize they don't have the greatest voices in the world and Barry with his falsetto - but still, the overall arrangements and blendings of their voices are awesome! The beat, too, my gosh.

Thanks, too, for posting the words. Believe it or not, my husband has gotten up whistling "How can you mend a broken heart" for the past Five mornings, and I'm glad to have the words so I can sing along. LOL

Fantastic review.

from your 3 Hour Tour AJ. Yes all the Gibb Brothers were multi-talented, writing, producing and singing and coming up with a lot of big hits and the 6th biggest album of the last 50 years with "Saturday Night Fever".

Their Early Start. . . (Reply to this comment)
by AinsleyJo
. . .makes me think of Hanson with those three wholesome brothers getting into the music business even before their voices changed and their whiskers grew!

Of course, I came to know about them (The Bee Gees, that is) in the late sixties, but I would love to see a clip of them performing way back when.

I've seen stills of them, but it would be so cool to hear them with little kid voices!!!

These three brothers were certainly multitalented, doing many styles of music in an A+ way!!!

Tunefully Yours--
AJ :o)

Re: Great Job - and Informative - THERE ARE 2 THOUGHTS ON ANDY (Reply to this comment)
by JAGUARDOG
Andy was the youngest brother and never joined the other 3 on a regular basis as he released solo singles and albums. His first 3 singles all went to #1 "I Just Want To Be Your Everything", "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water" and his biggest hit "Shadow Dancing" that stayed at #1 for 7 weeks. Anyway most people, sites, books etc. say he did commit suicide and a very few say he died from a Medical Condition so it's up for conjecture I guess? Thanks for your comments Virginia.

Re: Awesome Job, Ron! - IF I EVER HAD THE PATIENCE? (Reply to this comment)
by JAGUARDOG
I could never write a whole book as I don't have the patience to stick to something look enough. It takes 2 days to most of my Music reviews together and I do have about 20 saved up on my hard drive I drafted up last year when I was away from here that i have to touch up. Anyway I get a period when I don't want to write, read, research or anything and have to take a long break. Thanks for the nice comments anyway Holly.

Great Job - and Informative (Reply to this comment)
by Granniemose
to me. The BJ's is one of the few groups that I am somewhat familiar with - do to the fact that they were a favorite of one of my children. I think I remember (correct me if I am wrong) that Andy Gibbs committed suicide after a failed romance with one of the girls in the Dynasty series. Which was too bad, if true, because the whole group made beautiful music.

Re: I am constantly in awe - THANKS FREAK (Reply to this comment)
by JAGUARDOG
I appreciate your comment and compliment very much. I do put in a lot of research time and enjoy it for the most part. I didn't need to put in as much with this one as I am so familiar with them and I left a lot of stuff out I normally would put in one of my regular Artist's reviews. I figured since it was already 11 pages long in MS Word I better not get carried away and upset anyone who hates reading really long, long postings. This one could have been 15 to 17 pages long.

That just so happens to be one of my Top 20 all time favorite songs as well and that's why I picked it as my title instead of any others by them.
