Pornographic behavior at a family venue. What could be better? I think I'll stay outside with the protesters. I bet they aren't acting that way.

I usually do not go to bars with my family in the city. But what I am trying to say is that when I go to "Walt Disney World", I expect family entertainment and family oriented behavior. Disney is pretty good, I think, about keeping some sense of decorum. But when it is gay week, Disney seems to shut their eyes to it. I don't think that borderline pornographic displays of affection are acceptable in this family oriented park, homo or hetero.

Scapp70: I agree with you about the overt sexual behavior. I don't think that's acceptable from heterosexual people, either, but I see it in parks and bars all over my city and others that I've visited. What do you do about that when your wife and child are along? All I can do is shrug and wish we were allowed the same standards, but it seems that even when we are allowed "a safe place" some straight families come to see the queers and are shocked.
I find this kind of behavior offensive no matter who's doing it. At least you have my apologies and I think it's wise of you to not take your family to anymore gay events.

I had heard of Gay Day at Disney World for many years now, not because I'm gay, but because I am a big Disney fan.
I had never attended the parks while the Gay Day was going on, not until this year.
I am not a fan of Gay Day after my visit to the parks this past year. The public displays of affection were rampant that most of the time was borderline pornographic, that I do not wish my wife, myself or two year old son to see.
Men would be open-mouth, tounge-exposed, and wet kissing, hands down pants, up shirts.
Come on! What is Gay Day trying to prove? Certainly not what grey002 expressed it is, Gay Days gives everyone a chance to get together with a common interest & meet new friends.
I have a couple of friends or family members who are homosexual, and they don't act like these morons.
This is a family park, and I won't be going back during Gay Day ever again.

Hi Shannon,
Thank you for your comment. I had such a wonderful time participating. I would like to do it again.
My sister lives in the Pacific S.E. It is truly so far away! And, a veeerrry long flight! It's hard to keep up with the other coast. :).

We had protesters standing outside the gates to our PrideFest this year, as we do every year. People and the press have learned to dismiss them. Unfortunately the press will always cover negative news. I think your feelings were justifiable anger.

Hi Ed,
I remember back when Gay Days started. There was a small handful of people who stood outside the Disney entrances in protest. This went on for the first couple of years. These people had stupid signs accompanied by their own stupid, somehow justified (in their minds), presence. (Stupid = a lack of better words). They were ridiculous.
What TICKED me off the most was that our local news channels gave them the publicity that they did not deserve! How & why did our local news channels give these people such tremendous coverage here? There was no normal reasoning here (in my mind).
On a better note, our local news channels are not lately following the same trend as they have in the past. Hopefully, it is buried now. But, I will never forget.
Thanks for stopping by.

Sandra: It was great to hear about Gay Days in Orlando. Yes, I've heard of it . . . I think some of those hateful people in the religious right made quite a stink about it when it first started and tried to get straight people to boycott Disney, who does have a LOT of gay employees, especially in the art department. They got nowhere and it's nice to know it's still going on. Thanks for joining us and for participating.

I spent three years on assignment, and spent a lot of time at the themes parks. I guess by the time I was there Gay day was more accepted, because one could get blinded by the red as the sun beamed off those shirts and such.
Thanks for joining, nice post.
