The Bottom Line For my Dad, Frank J. Harucki, who never stopped showing me his love and understanding.
(Thanks to HawgWyld and Joubert on the occasion of their Epinions anniversaries for hosting this: THE MANLY MAN Write-Off.) I was only little then; A tiny tot, was I. My dad was always there for me, Whenever I'd laugh or cry. He'd laugh away the hours, And dry my saddened tears. He was my pillar of iron All throughout the years. I became a teen and there he was: A worrisome dad, indeed. He'd lecture, scold or console - Whichever I would need. Then I grew up and moved away; A child no more to be. But his love was reassuring - He was always there for me. When I got down and in the dumps, He always pulled me through. He'd wash away my lonely tears And make my gray skies blue. He hugged the daylights out of me And kissed my head of curls, I miss him as he used to say That I was his special girl. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ OLD SALT I went to visit Dad today. He never said a word. The pounding of my breaking heart Was the only sound I heard. Does he hear me when I tell him That I miss him very much; Every day's a silent torment Without my father's touch. I miss the way he used to smile At the silly things I'd say. I'm here now with my memory Ever since he went away. So, here I am at Dad's place To tell him I still care - And standing near his Marker, Old Glory's waving there. ++++++++++++++++++++ Happy Fathers' Day, Dad. I love you and miss you. ++++++++++++++++++++ |
