Re: just my observation as the mother of 4 (Reply to this comment)

I don't think it was ever stated that I could get kids to clean better than their parents.
It contained suggestions that even parents, when walking in on our cleaning games, found worked for them at home when they tried it.
I never stated that it would work for everyone.
Hints and tips don't always work on anything, be it a product, sport, job, etc.
Its just a article I wrote to bring new ideas to parents struggling with the subject. I don't know their children better than them and I don't more about raising a child, not even close.
but I've noticed a trend. You don't believe day care teachers are very knowledgeable in childcare and child product areas. I would'nt want someone who didn't know much about either taking care of my girl. Is it posible you are a stay at home mom and has not had to keep your child in daycare for long term? Is it possible you don't see anyone being a daycare teacher holding a real job?
Do parents realy beleive that their children become angels at daycare, when they are terrors at home? This is so not the case. Your children aren't any better for us than they are for you on a day to day regular basis.
moving on...

just my observation as the mother of 4 (Reply to this comment)

getting other people's children to clean up after themselves is a lot easier than getting your own children to clean up after themselves - I'm sure this review would be very different if you were writing about your own child - maybe you need to consider updating this in about 5 or 6 years, because I am sure now that you have a child, your view will change

Also helpful advice. I'm going to try this one on my nephews the next time they visit. They are terrible about pick-up, and they'll think this is another game. Thanks!

After naptime or outside time Id tell the children that I had hid lots of their toys in places they shouldnt be.
This becomes another game for them. I love it!
Thanks for a wonderful opinion.

Thanks for the ideas. I agree that cleaning a room can be overwhelming for a kid... it can be for adults too LOL.

I liked the timer idea. We used to do something similar..we'd race to see who got their rooms cleaned. loser takes out the trash.
Good ideas!

We use the kitchen timer and the kids race around to see how much of a room can get cleaned in 10 minutes. The funny thing is that once the timer goes off, and the room is almost clean, they want to keep cleaning and get it perfect.
