The Bottom Line The site was great but when it came to delivering the goods they didn't show. No Customer service worth mentioning.

I did most of my shopping online last Christmas and had presents sent directly to the recipients that were out of town. I saved money and got the presents delivered in a timely fashion and had no problems with the sites I used except one,Thesportsauthority.com. They blew it big time in my book.
Merchandise
They carry sports equipment, clothes, shoes, and most anything that has to do with sports. I saw all the major brands on the site.
Ordering
I found the merchandise I was hunting for by searching on their search engine. I wanted matching bowling bags for my son and his wife. I found what I wanted quickly, two matching bags that were said to be in stock to be in stock. They like other sites use shopping baskets you can add or delete to your hearts content.
Check Out
This was easy put in your address and the shipping address give your credit information. The shipping I wanted was standard I was ordering 16 days before Xmas plenty of time for them to get the presents. Standard shipping to their state should have been 7 days or less. I was able to order gift-boxes and a card for the gifts.
Prices
Their prices seemed reasonable although I don't buy many sports items. The bowling bags were about the same as I would have paid at any of the sports stores that I could have walked into and shopped.
Personal Experience
I called my son and told him his presents were on the way and to call me when he received the packages. I waited and waited 10 days passed and I still had not heard from him. I called and he said that nothing had arrived yet. Very upset I tried to track the shipping but could not get to the information I needed.
I finally called customer service and gave them the order and shipping number. I was then told after being transferred three times that they were out of this item. I was furious. I had received no e-mail or snail mail telling me that my order was on hold. I canceled the order and gave them a piece of my mind for all the good it did.
This was the only disappointment I have encountered with shopping online. It would have been okay if they had let me know but they didn't and according to their web site my packages were on the way. I ended up with only enough time to send my son and his wife a gift certificate.
I will never trust thesportsauthority again.
