Update August 2005 (Reply to this comment)
by tashiko
My first purchase from VarsityBooks is also my last. I ordered a used, instock text book last Thursday evening and received a prompt order confirmation. That's the only aspect of VarsityBooks that the word "prompt" applies to. I called Customer Service after not receiving a shipping notice nor a response to an order status email sent via their own website. The rep was polite but English was definitely not his first language. We got the order # straight after the 4th repetion. After stating that the book would arrive tomorrow I asked if he could explain why it has taken so long for an "instock" book and why had I not received a response to my status inquiry. I was advised that they had had trouble on their side and he would waive shipping charges.
While free shipping is a nice treat, I'd rather have received my order in a timely fashion. I also do not feel it is unreasonable to expect a 24-hour turnaround on status inquiries.

through Varsity Books also and have found some glitches in their system also. You are correct though: it is basically a good idea and when they work out those glitches, it'll be a lot better! Thanks for a detailed well-written review!

. . . kick out of your title.
Judging by your posting, Varsity seems unlikely to make it to grad school.

Just a suggestion . . . (Reply to this comment)

to a fellow Trojan who knows how much Pertusati rips you off. You should check out www.bestbookbuys.com, it checks all the major websites and calculates the best price, including shipping and handling. Also, they include used books.
