I have always liked the Pillsbury Doughboy. Who can resist a fellow that brings you sweet warm goodies all glistening with goo. Gooey icing sliding down hot buns, getting licked off your fingers ~ mmm, he has so many tempting calorie loaded goodies to share with us all, and not one comment about how maybe we've just had one to many cookies. No, not him ~ he just gives us a wink and a giggle or two and then he's off to come up with new scrumptious creation!
Well that pudgy wad of giggling dough has his own web-site ~ It is called the Pillsbury Doughboy Shop and you can drop in for a visit at any time, any day of the week. This is no ordinary sugar laced site, but one you can spend some free time seeing all that it has to offer. You are sure to come away with something, whether it be a Doughboy doll or ornament, or a new recipe that you have just got to try.
A lot of time and effort was put into the making of this site, and you may find yourself clicking on one link after another, losing track of time in the process. There is stuff to do and see for all ages. They have a merchandise store, a fun center where you can play Doughboy games or send some free Doughmail.
At any time, you can click on the image of the Doughboy and be taken back to "home." The only trouble I saw with the site was that there appears to be more than one "home," and it took a little bit of just wandering around to get back to the "home" that I wanted to go to. It does appear that if you leave the Pillsbury Doughboy Shop proper and head off on a link to Pillsbury your return home is to the Doughboys home at Pillsbury, not the Doughboy's home at the "Shop." It may be easier just to just your back button until you return to the "Shop" area then frustrate yourself by clicking all over creation trying to find the right sequence back.
At the Pillsbury Doughboy Shop Online Store you are able to buy Doughboy merchandise or cash in the Doughboy Points that you have been saving from all the Pillsbury products that you have been buying for some specific products. The Doughboy Points are found on the Pillsbury product UPC square ~ Only the UPC''s that also have the words Doughboy Points are eligible.
The merchandise and ordering differ for both the Pillsbury Doughboy Shop Online Store and the Doughboy Points Redemption Store and these differences follow:
If you have collected at least 15 Doughboy Points you can order from the special gift section. Last time I checked there were 17 items available for redemption of the points. The majority of items in the Doughboy Gift section run about 20 points, although there are a few items that run upwards into the hundreds of points, with the most "point-pensive" at 600 points. You are allowed to use cash to buy points with, but you must have at least 15 points cut from the Pillsbury products. Points can be purchased for .25 cents a point. Only checks and money orders are excepted in the gift redemption center, so you will have to print out their gift redemption order form and mail it in with payment and at least 15 Doughboy Points.
Examples of some of the items available for Point Redemption are a Doughboy Beanbag Doll for 20 points, a Doughboy Rocking Horse Ornament for 20 points, a Doughboy Key-Chain for 20 points, a Doughboy Giggle Plush Doll With A Makes It Fun Apron for 90 points, A Doughboy Toy School Bus for 100 points, A Four Foot Tall Plush Doughboy Doll for 600 points, and a Doughboy Giggle Cookie Jar for 200 points. A bit of something for everyone!
Now in the Pillsbury Doughboy Shop Online Store (you know that is some mouthful there ~ they really need to work on that name some more!) is run like most of the other on-line stores you may have frequented out there. You can order on-line 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. This shop excepts Visa, MC, American Express, Discover Card, and personal check. You have the option of printing out their product catalog if that is your preference. You can also sign up for the Doughboy's bi-monthly bulletins that will arrive via e-mail. If you are in need of customer service, have a question or comment you can reach Doughboy Help at doughboy_shop@poppinfresh.com ~ yes the Doughboy Shop is run quite a bit differently than the Points Redemption Shop!!!
There are 15 Doughboy Categories that you can click on ~ each one will whisk you away to that categories product page. Each item for sale on the site has a very thorough description of the product, a full-color picture, and often some information on the history or use of the product. I will briefly list the categories and what you might typically find in each one. Rest assured that each and every product has the Doughboy on it somewhere!!!!

Not a bad selection at all and the prices are actually quite reasonable overall with items from $3.99 on up. Most of the items seem to run between $12.99 and $16.99, making this a site that a Doughboy Fan could go crazy in.
There is a Link to the Pillsbury Doughboy Kitchen where you can access the Recipe files!!!!! Yes, indeed, plan on spending a while here roaming through the wonderful goodies. Each recipe comes up on your screen like a regular recipe card which you can print right off and save. If you have no desire to buy any Doughboy merchandise you may very well find this part of the site one of your favorites to refer back to time and time again. It is definitely worth a look-see.
Kids can also have fun clicking on the Link to Doughboy Games where they can play interactive games with the Doughboy himself!
And if you are always looking for new and unusual e-mail cards to send to friends and family, then follow the Doughboy e-mail Link and send that cute little Doughboy off with free greetings to all that you know!
All in all, the site is quick and easy to roam around in. The only problem that I found was in getting back to the "right" home as I mentioned earlier, but this is a great family site, and for those Doughboy fans out there, this is the place to set a bookmark for!!!
Happy baking!!! Judy
