Very Well Written.... (Reply to this comment)

especially as I am only a semi literate computer user, and I think I understood (almost) every word!
I like the idea of having a "glorious" computer screen! - it certainly sounds good.
The one I use could only be described as "functional".
Enjoyed your review, as always.

Re: Regarding+memory... (Reply to this comment)

Applications and data are not accessed directly on CF or SD like the ones on the Springboard Flash modules, but they are paged into RAM as needed so you do not need to keep a lot of free space on your device. Some applications and data will be copied entirely, some piece by piece as needed (depending on how the application works), but all copying is in the background so that even if you have to copy everything it'll be faster than manually copying or the copying done on the m500.
One other thing to remember is that SD is really slow. Much slower than CF. I literally cannot tell which of my Doc files are being read from CF and which are in RAM. There is no noticeable difference in load time no matter how large the file. Because the data is read in as needed, I don't need that much space on the device to read these files. I have read large Doc files on CF with less than 100K free in RAM.

Comprehensive and informative review. (Reply to this comment)

Excellent job reviewing the HandEra. You certainly do know your Palms!
I've been very jealous of my friend's brand new top of the line Palm m505, but after reading your review, I begin to wonder why Palm hasn't developed their own higher resolution screens.
Once again, thank you for your review. Most helpful!

Regarding memory... (Reply to this comment)
by gorocco
Excellent review.
I did have a question regarding the "unlimited memory." Does it work like the Springboard Flash module, which allows you to access the extra memory as if it were the internal memory? The Palm m500 series segregates memory card programs from those on the internal memory, making it a pain to access those programs without dealing with a "Please wait" sign as the unit accesses the card.
