The Bottom Line: The Hilton College Station is an above average hotel with a great staff and clean rooms. The resturant is the only bad thing at this great hotel.

The last week of July each year marks a week at the Hilton in College Station, Texas. My husband teaches at the Texas Extension Service Fire School held on the campus of Texas A & M University. We have stayed at this hotel every year since he has been teaching at this school. We have yet to have a bad experience here and have returned year after year.
The Room
The rooms at this Hilton Hotel are always well decorated and very clean. The room we stayed in had two double beds, a desk and a chair in the room. We found the room to be clean upon our arrival and cool. You know in Texas cool always counts for points, especially in the heat of July. The bathroom was nice and large enough that you could actually move around in it. It was clean and stocked with shampoo, conditioner and plenty of towels and washcloths. This year the Hilton was doing some renovation on some of the floors so it wasn’t as nice and quite as it has been in the past. They are upgrading and redoing rooms that are in need of repair. So next year we should be able to check into a bright and shiny new hotel room for our week of Fire School. Our room was always cleaned in a timely manner each day by a friendly staff.
The Bar
The Hilton in College Station has a very nice bar area. It is a great place to sit and enjoy a drink with all of those people that we haven’t seen in a year. It is very cool and well decorated. The service is great, with the wait staff paying close attention to you and your beverage of choice. It is a sea of fireman, instructors and their families this one week out of the summer.
The Restaurant
This is the only complaint I have with the Hilton in College Station. The service staff here was not near as attentive as the bar staff. The food is over priced for the taste. They offer a breakfast buffet each morning. This proved quickly to not be the best buffet we had ever had. The sausage tasted old, the food was all cold and when we asked for an egg cooked with a hard center, we got an egg over easy with the white not even completely done. My suggestion here is to stay away from eating in this restaurant. We didn’t eat dinner or lunch there, but after having that breakfast we looked for other places to enjoy our other meals.
The Pool
The pool at the Hilton College Station, Texas is not the biggest pool you will see at a hotel, but is big enough to cool off and enjoy the water. There is not lifeguard so you must be present with your children. The pool and the area around it were clean and well kept. The water was always sparkling and very easy to enjoy on a hot afternoon. There are chairs for you to sit in with tables for you to enjoy a nice visit with friends by the pool.
Check-In and Check-Out
We have never experienced any problems at the Hilton College Station, Texas upon checking in or out. The front desk staff is always pleasant and willing to help with any of your needs. The week that we are there is always busy as there are hundreds of firefighters and their families checking in for the week. There was no line and the staff made it clear that if we needed anything to please let them know. I can’t say enough about the customer service and front desk staff at this hotel. They are very helpful and always friendly.
Final Thought
If you find yourself in the College Station, Texas, the Hilton Hotel is a great place to stay. You will enjoy your nice, clean room and the pool. You can even enjoy a drink at a bar with a wait staff that I would rate a 9. The restaurant is the only thing that the Hilton could improve on at this location. I am not sure about the price of the room as my husband’s company always pays ours for. All in all we had a great stay at the Hilton and you can too.
