I've been a Sprint PCS user for about... 4 or 5 years now, and I've honestly never had a problem with them. They give you a whole bunch of minutes at a decent price. It is easily the 1st or 2nd-best service in Austin if you're even remotely concerned about pricing.
With $30 for 3000 minutes on the Nationwide Plan, there is virtually no reason to have a separate long distance plan. The cost is much better than Cingular, and while the phones may be a bit more expensive to purchase, both the service and the price is better. As a former salesman of Sprint, Cingular, and Verizon Wireless, I can tell you that Sprint blows the other two out of the water as far as price and the right minutes at the right times.
Sprint PCS has a humongous coverage area, BUT because it relies on both the digital PCS network and the old analog satellites, calls can often be lost when switching from one part of the coverage area to another. Additionally, Sprint PCS roaming charges within small areas are more expensive than many other carriers. However, even after those charges, Sprint provides a cheaper plan.
Sprint PCS in Austin is still a work-in-progress, and that only makes it more shameful that Verizon and Cingular are so inadequate. While AT&T and VoiceStream are viable alternatives, Sprint has the best quality for the best price.
