If you enjoy playing free online games for prizes, and you have never been to Pogo.com, your missing out! Pogo is a fantastic site with a wide variety of games with chat rooms built right in. And it's 100% free! Most of the games have cash prizes available, and even though the odds of winning a prize are pretty slim - the games are very entertaining!
Site Layout & Use
The layout of the site is very simple, and the games are easy to load and use. They don't have tons of advertising or fancy graphics on the main page and games pages so they load very quickly. The games take a little longer to load because they are Java games (they load in a pop-up window).
Prize Tokens
Any game you play on Pogo that has a "$" symbol beside it is a cash prize game. Most of the games have a cash jackpot in addition to token prizes. As you build up tokens, you can use them to enter into the daily, weekly, or monthly prize drawings. Or you can do like lots of other users and just hoard them (I'm up to over 2.6 million tokens). Don't worry if you lose the tokens you start with, Pogo automatically gives you more if you run out!
Winning a Prize & Spending Tokens
There are two different ways to win prizes on Pogo: Win a specific game jackpot or enter in the daily, weekly or monthly prize drawings. I have never won any cash prizes myself, but I know a couple of people who have. Winning prize checks generally take 4-6 weeks to receive.
1) The game jackpots range from $50 to $4999, increasing by $0.01 every 10 seconds, or $0.50 every game for bingo. I've been a very active user of Pogo since October 2000, and I've never seen a jackpot even reach $3000 myself (once they get above $2000, huge amounts of people will usually converge on the specific game).
2) Once you have 100 tokens or more, you can enter in the daily, weekly, or monthly prize drawings. The more tokens you have, the more tickets you can buy, and the better chance you will have of winning a prize. I rarely enter in the prize drawings because I like hoarding my tokens. Although I'll probably give in and spend them all at once one of these days.
Pogo Community
The cool thing about Pogo games is the chat rooms are built right in and are very convenient to use. I have made many friends through Pogo and if you are new to the games, there are usually lots of friendly and helpful players around. I'm Oleg632 if you'd like to add me to your friends list on Pogo.
Some Of My Game Favorites
Dominoes - This is a really fun game where you score points by placing domino pieces and making the game ends total an increment of 5. The first player to either 100, or 250 points gets a jackpot spin.
Roulette - I made my first million tokens playing Roulette in about a month and a half. The roulette wheel has a series of multipliers called "big shots" (a x2,x3,x4,x5 and x10 spot). If the ball lands on a multiplier, the wheel then starts up again and the multiplier is applied to the next number hit. My biggest win occurred when I had the maximum token bet of 100 sitting on 6, and it hit x10 which was worth 35,000 tokens.
Turbo 21 (registered trademark of Pogo) - Make sets of 21's as quickly as you can before the timer runs out! If you can make 13 sets or more, you get a jackpot spin. If you make the maximum of 18 sets of 21's (not as easy as it sounds, I can usually do it about once a day), you win a bonus 1000 tokens in addition to your bonus spin. This game is my favorite game on Pogo since it's fast paced and you can restart the game as often as you like if you don't start out with a good hand.
Who Can Play
To win prizes on Pogo, you have to be a resident of the U.S. or Canada (excluding Quebec), have a connection to the Internet, and have an email address. You can still play if you are under the age of 18, you just can't win cash prizes. Teens can win Tower Records gift certificates in the amount of the prize won instead.
Only Problem I've Encountered Is Customer Service
I've had a few problems with abusive users on Pogo (only two or three times) and Pogo tends to not really take action or even respond if you write a complaint, so beware and be careful.
Final Comments
Pogo.com is a very entertaining site with a wide variety of games for all ages. Although the odds are pretty slim of winning a prize, the games are still very entertaining to play and you can even make some new friends! So if you have never been to Pogo.com, I suggest you check it out!
