Beware of Brinks Home Security Packages (RIP OFF) (Reply to this comment)

I contacted with Brinks Home Security to provide security for my condominium in Maryland in late 2008. Sure enough, they sent out a tech in 4 days as promised. The tech came out, installed the system and went through a detailed line by line item as to how I would be billed. It was explained to me that I would only have to pay $942.88 and there would no more bills for another twelve months. I then handed over a check for $942.88.....only to find out that the tech's words were all lies!!!!! As a month later I received a bill for $64.79 for a yearly wireless monitoring service that was never explained to me! I called the Brinks so-called Customer Care Center and they couldn't care less!!! So in addition to being a higher cost security company when compared to others like ADT, Brinks will also rip you off with hidden fees and lengthy contracts that are difficult to break. At least with ADT you know what your bill will be every month. I will be swicthing back to ADT and encouraging all others I know to STAY away from Brinks!!!

Almost 5 years down the road, any further thoughts on the subject? Have you noticed all of these national alarm companies are in Texas (Brinks, ADT, Monitronics, GE Protect America? What gives? We've lived safely in our house for 30 years, but are thinking of wiring up. Alan
