Announcing the "OK, this isn't my usual category" Anniversary Write-Off

The Bottom Line Please humor me and join in...
OK, I'm jumping on the anniversary write-off wagon. Today is my first anniversary on Epinions. It's been an interesting but good year, and I've really enjoyed myself. In thinking of a good all-around write-off that everyone could join in on, I found my brain itching. I thought of a few things, but they were either:
a. Hokey/Stupid
b. Category-specific
c. Too wild/negative for some of the friends I've made
I kicked around the idea of "The Mother-In-Law Write-Off," and may do that in the future, 'cause boy have I got a lulu for one and it might make for a few collective chuckles to see other's stories. but I digress for now and will continue gathering ammo for that one.
Something I've been wanting to do is spread my wings out of the Kids & Family category a little more. When the dust settles from my work situation (hospital reorganization sucks and causes me undue stress), I want to diversify. I've stuck my toe in the water in a couple other places, but I'm ready to wade in. I have my eye on the Beauty category, but I'm willing to stick my neck out on other stuff.
Hence the idea for this write-off. Everyone should stretch their wings occasionally. Be daring. Get out of the comfort of your usual category and go where no man has gone before. OK, just go where you haven't gone before. Find something to write about in a category you've never written in (or seldom write in). It can even be a Writer's Corner piece. Heck, write a poem -- doesn't matter to me -- just flex that creative muscle and jump in.
But beware... the water could be cold...

Maybe this borders on hokey, but it could be a little fun. I'll save the really fun stuff (like the Mother-In-Law thing) for later. You know, after she's given my home another unexpected invasion and I'm feeling particularly saucy about it...
Thanks to everyone for making the past year such a good one for me. I've enjoyed making new friends like you guys -- all while doing something I love to do... write and stick my 2 cents in.
