By looking at the other reviews, I think we are in agreement. When I look at the positive reviews, they mention value and a good place to sleep. When I look at negatives, they talk about not the best food and dirty.
I agree. How can you agree with both sides? It easy, I just acknowledge the cheaper places won't be as nice and I won't stay in a dump. This is what I require. And Holiday Inn meets those requirements.
Three positives:
1. Equal Service. I have stayed at Hyatt's, Ramada, and some local moderate hotel chains. And usually Holiday Inn's front lobby service area is as good if not better. The computer's seem to run faster and have quicker arrival time. And you can bypass the checkout if you want to pay with a credit card. The higher priced chains want tips to do any type of service. I think that is their job and they should do it. Thus I don't get the service from the nicer chains.
2. Clean rooms. I have never stayed in a room that is not clean. Outside the rooms I have come across some messes that needed to be addressed. But when I let the front desk know, I felt it was handled as it should.
3. Easy parking. A lot of larger hotels have all the area near the rooms blocked off for loading and unloading for guest. But after arrival you have to park in a garage across the street. So the parking is safer and better.
Concerns:
1. Stale hotel rooms. In the rooms there is usually a stuffy feeling in the air. I believe they must do something to their air to get this affect. But when I first walk in there, I smell the "stale air odor". But again, most hotels have this odor and after 30 minutes you get use to it.
2. Overuse of bleach in house towels. So their towels are rougher and stink. And after I use them, I smell bleach on me. So I suggest bringing your own towel.
3. Eat Out. There food and room service is usually as expensive as a nice restaurant, but not as nice. So get out and eat at a restaurant. The hotel is for sleeping and cleaning up.
