Yes they have great phones and competitive price plans but it still isn’t worth it. I have had Cingular, formally Pacific Bell Wireless, for about 6 months and have regretted every day.
Coverage:
The coverage is pretty spotty, but when you do you have a signal the sound quality is great. GSM service in general doesn’t seem to be to popular when it comes to coverage in the United States. Cingular has recently had problems with their system being overloaded, especially during the night and on weekends. Many people blame this on their unlimited night & weekend minutes. You will most likely run into black holes very often. For the most part they really lag on coverage.
Support:
The customer support is only open during specific hours, which can become very annoying when you have a problem with your service at 10 o’clock at night on a Sunday. You usually have to wait 15 – 20 minutes to get a rep, but when you do they are usually very helpful.
Price Plans:
They offer some competitive prices, but it is still not worth it for the lack of coverage and support. I currently have the $69.99 plan with 750 anytime, unlimited night and weekends, free long distance, and free text messaging. Which is the best deal in the Bay Area.
When I was recently in one of there service center and noticed a lady about to renew her contract, I had a urge to yell, “No, don’t do it!” but of course that wouldn’t of looked to great. I say stay as far away as possible from this provider. Don’t let those cool phones lure you in.
