Pre-euthanasia attempt at catharsis. Don't mind me.

I'm so sorry, I know exactly how you feel. I had to have my hamster euthanised a couple of years ago and even though I knew it was the right decision, it was still a hard one to make. Last year I held one of my degus as he died, after unsuccessfully trying to nurse him back to health by injecting him with fluids three times a day. Now we have a rat, and he's a real sweety too. It breaks my heart to think of losing him.

I'm also trying to get into vet school (this year will be my second shot at it - I WILL get in this year!), and I also want to deal with exotics.

Sorry for your loss... and good luck with vet school!

Size doesn't matter. So sorry that it took me this long to read this lovely and heart felt piece. I am sorry about Pippin. I am sure that he is better now that he is not in pain. Lucky him to have had you as a friend and owner!

My best,
Deborah~

Sorry to hear about your loss. I had several rats when I was growing up, and it was always devastating when they finally passed away. I don't think size has anything to do with how much you miss a beloved companion when they're gone.

Best wishes, and hope you feel better.

I know it won't be easy. I know you will tell yourself you are doing the kind thing, and yet it won't feel kind when it happens. I know you will mourn his passing, and that some friends won't understand--"he was just an animal."

I had to do what you're now doing for a very sweet cat. It does hurt, and it will leave a hole in your heart for a while.

God must know what you're going through. I don't think he intends this parting to be forever. You can't convince me that there isn't a place in heaven for loving "little things" like Pippin.

My sincere condolences.
