| mindeep's Full Review: Evenflo On My Way Travel System |
I purchased the On-My-Way Travel System when I was pregnant with my now 2-year-old son. I liked the travel system concept and it was on sale. I figured that this stroller would be good for him until I needed a double when I had another child. My son was born in May, and the first summer I really liked it - I liked being able to have him face me, and I liked taking him places and not having to wake him getting in/out of the car. The only cons I noticed at this point were: a) the stroller is designed for someone with a weird body, it's uncomfortable to push if you're tall (I'm only 5'7" and it was hard for me), but it was hard to collapse if you're short (my sister is about 5'3" and she couldn't do it). The basket made it hard to take long strides, and the handle bar is too low. and b) it was kind of hard to put into my trunk because it's kind of big (also mine didn't lock closed, either I was missing a part or they don't have locks).
Fast forward to the next summer. I hated the stroller - I avoided using it whenever possible. Something I didn't notice when my heavy son was riding in his heavy car seat in the stroller was that the stroller was HEAVY. I also HATED the seat belt. It is just a belt that goes through a loop on a strap between the legs. It also seemed like the seat back was slightly reclined and my son didn't like leaning back, so he leaned forward all the time (not very comfy). I had also gotten really used to having him face me and missed that (especially if it started to rain or get really windy or very sunny while we were out). However, this is a problem that can only be remedied by buying a stroller that is much more expensive (although, if I had it to do over again, I'd spend the extra $100). Also, there was no drink holder on mine - I know this sounds stupid, but now that I have a stroller with a tray for me, I use it ALL THE TIME! Finally, after being stranded at a mall for many hours one day, I decided that I was not going to push that stroller one more inch - ever! I went out a purchased a light-weight stroller (by Graco) that I LOVE! It has a great collapsing mechanism. Even if you decide that this is the stroller for you (maybe they've changed something since mine was manufactured) try it out in the store - take good-sized steps, and make sure the handle is around waist level. This will make it so you don't shudder when you think about taking a walk.
