Nexxtech Mini Notebook Mouse - aka - A PIECE OF JUNK.

Written: Mar 29 '07 (Updated Mar 29 '07)
Pros:Cheap, size, attractive appearance, easy to use (when it worked) & it can be returned!
Cons:No directions for programming buttons, Quit working within one week of purchase.
The Bottom Line: Avoid this mouse! Spend a little more and get a mouse that is reliable!

**I had difficulty posting this review today due to Epinions doing maintenance on the site. I was unable to access the review after submitting to fix a format problem. I finally managed to delete the review. I did not see any ratings on the review when I deleted it. This is not a duplicate review.**

This mouse doesn't even deserve the time I am spending to write this epinion. I have chose to write this review because I hope it will help you make an informed decision to walk right pass the Nexxtech Mini Notebook Mouse.

The 3 P's - Purchasing, Packaging and Price

Approximately two weeks ago my husband bought me my very first laptop computer from Circuit City. The only accessory I even cared for was a wireless mouse. While at Circuit City we picked up this pathetic, good for nothing mouse. I know the Nexxtech Mini Notebook Mouse NWOMMI can be purchased online or at Circuit City, but if you still want one after reading this review I must have really screwed up somewhere.

The mouse was packaged in a thick, pain in the butt, annoying plastic that had to be cut off using scissors. If I had only known what I was in store for - it would still be packaged in the store on the shelf.

The price seemed too good to be true compared to the other mice. That should have been my FIRST clue huh? I guess you could say I am cheap. I would like to believe that we can get things we want without always having to pay a fortune, but sometimes I fall in with those 'Live and Learn' Folks. I paid $19.99 for the Nexxtech Mini Notebook Mouse and you shouldn't be surprised to learn that it is going back to the store for a FULL REFUND!

The Basics

The Nexxtech Mini Notebook Mouse NWOMMI is an optical wireless mouse equipped with left and right buttons with the scrolling dial in the center. It is functional (at least for a few days) by USB connection.

Operating

To operate, you will need to install the batteries into the mouse. The top of the mouse slides right off when you apply a little pressure and slide it backwards. Once the batteries are in place, the lid slides right back into place. Next, you will plug the USB lug in an available port and push in the small button on the USB plug and on the bottom of the mouse. They locate each other and walah - you have a wireless laptop mouse. Sounds nice right? **Not so fast, Keep Reading**

What Nexxtech CLAIMS to be True

Nexxtech claims to be a mouse with programmable buttons, power saving mode, speed and accuracy. Yeah, Claims is just what they ARE too!

The TRUTH about the Nexxtech Mini Notebook Mouse NWOMMI

~*~Programmable Buttons~*~

The Nexxtech Mini Notebook Mouse NWOMMI may have programmable buttons, but there is one major WHOOPS with this feature. There are no directions to tell you how to program the blasted buttons. I am sure with a little time I could figure out how to program the buttons, but there is no point now. **Keep reading, you'll soon know why**

~*~Power Saving Mode~*~

The product claimed you could recharge the mouse with the included receiver/charger, but I GUARANTEE you will need (2)AAA batteries or it will be lifeless. Regardless, it will be a corpse soon anyway. Power Saving Mode on this mouse is a JOKE!

~*~Speed & Accuracy~*~

Speed? Accuracy? Yeah, it was speedy and accurate. Once upon a time anyway. You could barely touch the mouse and it would move with no problem. You could press the button and walah, you were navigated without delay. There is nothing negative I can say about the speed or accuracy of the Nexxtech Mini Notebook Mouse NWOMMI. Wait, unless you count that It even DIED WITH SPEED & ACCURACY, killing over in less than a week!

Was There ANYthing I liked about the mouse?

Believe it or not, there are a few things I liked about the Nexxtech Mini Notebook Mouse NWOMMI. I liked the size of this mouse. It fit comfortably in my hand. It wasn't too big nor was it too small. It came with a small black leather case that might have been handy with extended use. Black with silver trim around the dial, it was presented with an attractive appearance. Before it stopped working it would function well on multiple surfaces and a mouse pad was not needed. It was a plug and play that was simple to use. Lastly, I can return it!

LIVE & LEARN

The touch pad on my laptop is easy enough to maneuver, but I knew there would be times I would want a 'mouse' to help me navigate in cyberland. Just three days prior to this purchase I had gallbladder surgery and I wasn't in the mood to compare the mice available. While shopping my pain medicine was wearing off and to be quiet honest at that point I didn't care if I got a mouse, computer or anything. So I have lived and learned. I have learned that this mouse is simply put, a piece of JUNK! Within one week the mouse stopped working. You could unplug the usb, replace with new batteries and try to re-set it (pushing the little buttons on the mouse and usb plug) as much as you wanted, but you were wasting time.

I wouldn't recommend this mouse to my worse enemy. Honestly, I would consider the time I have spent writing this wasted too, but I know I may be helping you AVOID THIS PIECE OF JUNK and that is well worth my time.
