If you are in the market for household items, sporting goods or consumer goods, Fingerhut has a catalog for you. If you are in the market for electronics, beware their selection and service promises. Oh yeah, did I mention 23.40% interest on their payment plans?
We have purchased and paid for many items from Fingerhut. Like with any merchant, some have been poor quality and others have been name-brand top-of-the-line. The textile products tend to be lower thread count, so watch for expected quality of items like towels and such. Buy name brand and I recommend against their Axsys Credit program due to its high interest rate.
Electronics are yet another adventure. Fingerhut offered a computer selection that had attractive prices and ever since day one of our order, we have had nothing but problems. Even during the first year, Fingerhut refused to exchange or return the product choosing rather for us to ship the unit to their manufacturer for parts replacement. Needless to say, 18 months and a new motherboard, new CD-ROM, and new software later, the Extended Warranty Service (Metris) isn't helping any more than the original manufacturer did; in fact, their coverage is weak in the middle-Atlantic states, a point they fail to mention in their advertising.
Fingerhut's response has been to shift me from phone extension to phone extension and to lose or lie about reported conversations. Looks like I need to spend $50 to send this to the Small Claims Court for resolution under lemon laws.
It is said that a merchant is only as good as the last sale. Well, this was my last purchase and will be forever in a day. Buyer beware.
