Greetings
Hi, it's Rob again. While sitting in my studio apartment here, waiting for my phone to ring (my agent said he would call me and for me not to call him, so here I wait), I decided to write my second Epinion on one of The Icemans favoritest sites. That site being Half.Com.
Introduction to the Cheap Skates Wet Dream...
That's exactly what Half.com is to me and many other former pop acts from the early 90s. Why MC Hammer himself introduced me to it a couple of months ago, and he said that Milli (from Milli Vanilli) and 4 out of the 5 original New Kids on the Block (Apparently, Marky Mark is too big of a star now to use a discount site) all swear by it.
So just what is Half.com? Well, it is a division of the monster that is Ebay. Except instead of it being an auction site where one bids on items, it is a place where the seller posts an item, names his price and you as the buyer pay that price, with no waiting for the auction to end and no getting snipered at the last minute, it is a nice alternative to the traditional "auction" site.
So with that in mind, say you want to buy my second album, "Mind Blowing", (which I strongly urge you to do, please? I am hungry and could really use that royalty check) Well, you would go to Half.com and type in "The dopest album of all time", those key words should bring up Mind Blowing, but if on the rare occasion it does not, then type in "Vanilla Ice" or "Mind Blowing".
Next you will see a whole bunch of listings for my cd. Why ANYBODY would sell this masterpiece is beyond me, but I digress. Half.com shows you all of the available items that match your query. They give you a description written by the seller, the condition of the item and the asking price.
Once you find one that suits all of your requirements, you simply click on it. Of course they require you to register with Half.com (which is free) and they give you several options on how you may pay.
Deals on Wheels
There are no deals on wheels, that was just one of my funky rhymes. There are however many deals to be found at Half.com. One can find DVDs for around 12 dollars. Though I can't seem to find my movie, Cool as Ice, anywhere in DVD format, which is just plain odd.
Half.com has listings under 8 main categories, which are:
Books
Music
Movies/DVDs

Electronics

Trading Cards
Each main category has a number of sub categories within. The site is very easy to navigate and posses a very good search engine for quick look up access.
Of course, if you're a broke former teen idol like the Vocal Hitman, then you just need to go to the Bargain Bin. This is where all the real bargains can be found. Books for a buck, movies for 2 bucks, and games for 5 bucks. You can't beat it. Of course, pretty much everything in the Bargain Bin really sucks, but when you have no money and sold all of your pride years ago, does it really matter?
Free Flow
There are many ways to earn free money at Half.com. Unfortunately though, you have to use this money to buy stuff at Half.com instead of them just cutting the Iceman a check. But it is fairly easy to earn 10 bucks here, 5 bucks here to use towards your purchases. One such way is to download what they call "Price Patrol", which is free and makes sure that you always get the best price you can on whatever it is you are buying. Download it, and get 10 bucks! Word!!
The Last WORD
Bottom line, if you have no career like the Iceman, but still feel the need to buy things, and cannot afford the flashy auction sites, then cruise on over to Half.com. There are no girlies on stand by, waitin just to say hi, but there are many decent deals to be found. I'm thinking about listing my sequined USA jacket with matching sequined USA parachute pants...I really need the money, but if I get rid of it, what will I wear when I go grocery shopping?
