Powell's is one of the few "name brand" bookstores on the web that still carries ebooks, so they pretty much get all of my business.
I'm an ebook fanatic because they store so easily. Barnes and Nobles stopped carrying them, then Amazon did, but good old Powell's was there for my rescue.
Powell's constantly has new books being added to their ebook department. So, it isn't like these are just dusty old files sitting around. Powell's seems to care about every aspect of thier customer's book desires.
I have had trouble downloading books once or twice, but their customer service responded right away to help fix the problem in a friendly manner.
They are also much more courteous to their ebook customers than what B&N and Amazon traditionally were in the past.
I have also ordered regular books to my satisfaction. Powell's also has a huge selection of used books which is very handy since so much good reading and reference material goes out of print far too quickly.
There is literally no kind of book that you can't find at Powell's. They have filled the spot that Amazon left open when they expanded to include all types of products. The current Powell's is very much like the old Amazon that we all grew to love.
The prices at Powell's are no higher than the ones at Amazon, but the customer service is better and the site is much more maneuverable.
If you factor in the ebooks, they have a larger book selection than anyone else.
Orders arrive on time (mail order is well packaged and downloads are immediate.)
Overall, a very nice company to deal with.
