Pros:Easy to use, works reasonably well
Cons:I don't like the original scent, really makes me feel lazy
The Bottom Line: I like them, I will continue to buy them, but you don't really need them
I am always looking for ways to make keeping our house clean just a little bit easier. That is why I have been buying Cascade 2-in-1 Action Packs.
The Basics
Cascade 2-in-1 Action Packs are for use in automatic dishwashers. These 1 1/4" squares contain a cleaner and degreaser in a plastic cover. You do not unwrap the packet, you simply place it in the wash compartment of your dishwasher and start the cycle.
My Experience
I admit that I buy these purely for their laziness factor. I don't have to pour anything, I don't have to unwrap anything, I just drop it in and go. Actually, my kids normally do the dropping. There are regular battles in our house over whose turn it is to put in the soap and start the dishwasher.
Cascade 2-in-1 Action Packs are a good dishwashing detergent. I still occasionally find food stuck to the dishes from time to time, but it does seem to do a good job with grease on dishes, even messes from deep frying. It also doesn't do much for the red stains on plastic, but I can't say that I really expected that either.
I buy the mega 90 count in a plastic container at Costco in original scent. I do wish they sold the orange scent. I think the original scent is odd. I suppose you could call it clean, but it isn't one I care for. I mostly notice the scent when the dishwasher is running but once in a while I catch a whiff on our drinking glasses as well.
Final Thoughts
As I write this review I realize how silly it sounds to buy a dishwashing detergent based on how little effort it takes me to use it. Really is it that hard to pour some liquid or powder from a container, or even unwrap other similar concentrated cleaners? Of course not. But every 6 weeks or so when that plastic tub gets empty I head back to Costco for another one.
