I would have to say that my life revolves around the internet. Not only do I spend my work day on and off checking email and looking up information but, it starts over when I get home. There are so many valuable tools just waiting to be discovered and libraries of information of every sort. Just about any question you can come up with you can also find an answer for when you have learned to surf effectively.
Not everyone realizes that the results of a search on the internet is limited to those sites that signed up with the search engine you are using. When someone creates a website, in order to have it accessible to lots of surfers, they have to sign up with multiple search engines. When you start your query using Dogpile as your search engine you are actually searching using 16 different search engines plus the Dogpile Directory.
The other search engines that are used are…
Goto.com
Looksmart.com
Findwhat.com
Sprinks by About.com
Directhit.com
Kanoodle.com
BrainFox.com
Ah-ha.com
Realnames.com
EPilot.com
Altavista.com
OpenDirectory.com
Yahoo.com
ValleyAlley.com
SearchHippo.com
Dogpile Web Catalog
If you are doing a search using Yahoo you may find some results. However, since Yahoo is one of the search engines accessed by Dogpile, using Dogpile will return those same results plus more. Instead of typing each individual URL for different search engines until you what you need, you can just type one URL. As busy as I am, anything that saves me time is both valuable and efficient.
