It WINS in my opinion
Written: Aug 02 '01
Pros:Free, plays Mp3s, CDs, MIDI, and [most] other music that I know of
Cons:No intended cons
The Bottom Line: If you like to listen to music, and not have to wait for [Windows] Media Player to load up, WinAmp is an excellent player to have. And, it's free!
All of us music lovers need a simple music player. It's easy to use, loads fast, and can be configured to play CDs automatically.
Ease of use: All you have to do is go to www.winamp.com and download it, and play it. Configuration is easy, and playing is even easier. It plays many, many different types of music - WAV, MP3, MIDI, and many more. However, it doesn't play RealPlayer files. It's just like a remote control on a stereo - anyone could use it.
Playlist:
You can create a playlist in seconds. I don't remember how, because I've never used it.
Supported file types:
With the exception of Real Player files, it supports all music files I can think of, including MP3, WMA (Windows Media), and MIDI files. There are many others I have never heard of.
Recommended: Yes
