Dune considered, Part 7: The alternate alternative ending -- and it's different, too.

How could you expect a complicated production like Dune not to have alternate stuff? If a beginning is a delicate time, tying everything up is a doozy.

Thanks for the comment. It's been a long time since this was done and I'd forgotten it. I suppose someday I ought to add in a later segment in which Ledodo II turns into a giant ... but that would be telling.

You might want to go back to it -- I have added eight new paragraphs of material, partly in response to what you said.

This is hysterically funny. I would advise anybody not to try reading it at work -- one will simply make a spectacle of himself.
Thanks,
Jason

Thanks! And yes ... put out by the same people who will bring us Bachelor Chow in the next thousand years. I don't know if they'll be blue, but it will probably give your dog 3 eyes. Extra.

“Murkychow,” Jacuzzica whispers to Phil, “and us with no tummz.”

Murkychow. Isn't that a pet food of some sort? Will it give my dog blue eyes?

That was Linda Hunt, who did a superb job with the role. She was an inspired bit of casting, as were so many of the characters in the 1984 version. "Shadout", by the way, is pure Arabic (the Fremen spoke a language primarily descended from it) for "water carrier". It's interesting that while the Universal language is a hugely mutated English (Galach), the language of religion is Arabic (and the language of the Bene Gesserit is Latin). Oops...sorry...went all serious there.

great job with that alternate ending. For a minute there I thought we were headed for a jar of Spice Island Spice via Fantasy Island. One character that I loved in the DeLaurentis movie was that "small" woman who played the Fremen servant Shadout (sp?) Mapes. If they can clone Duncan Idaho, they should be able to resurrect her.
