A Shameless Plug For My Dog-- AND I DON'T CARE!! Aug 03 '03    Write an essay on this topic. Tweet The Bottom Line Kiwi is the BEST dog in the world. I don't know what I'd do without her. My dog, Kiwi, is my baby. She is a 5 lb., 2 year old Chihuahua. (Well, she's not quite 2 yet. Her birthday is 8/9/01.) I love this dog so much, it's not even funny. Seriously. I call her my "dog-ter." (Get it? Like "daughter!") She is an intricate part of my family. Everyone she meets loves her. My mother calls her "my little grand-dog." It's funny. Kiwi (like any dog, I imagine) gives me and my husband absolutely UNCONDITIONAL love. SHe can't protect us very well because she's so little, but she sure as heck tries! Since 12/5/01, I have had 2 different surgeries on my right arm. The last one, which was on July 3, 2002, really threw me for a loop. The surgeon gave me a drug that I'm allergic to and someone dropped my head when moving me from the gurney to the operating table. The result? Four bulging discs in my neck and nearly six weeks to recuperate from something that should have taken me less than three. During the entire time that I was in bed, Kiwi sat by my side. I was unconscious for the most part of the first week home, and I was told that Kiwi left my side just to eat and "do her business" outside. My mother, who was helping my husband to take care of me, called her my little nursemaid. Yes, I spoil my dog. I can't help it. I love her so much. So, when Beneful started a contest about wonderful dogs, I HAD to enter Kiwi. If Kiwi wins, she gets a year's supply of Beneful as well as her own TV commercial. So, why am I writing about it here?
