The Bottom Line Get to know the answers to 16 more questions about a fellow Epinionator!
If you are reading this then you probably already read my first 16 questions. I hope I can redeem myself in this one.
Before I begin I want to thank prelude99 for allowing me to jump in at the last minute. Check out his questions and other links to the other participants of this ingenious write off. Click here (Boy I haven't had to use this HTML stuff since university so I hope I'm doing this right!)Thanks again Prelude99!
So here we go:
1. Approx how big (sq feet) is your house/condo/apartment, etc?
We just bought this house a year ago...it's our anniversary...sniff sniff...yep kinda brings a tear to my eyes. It's 1698sq feet with a large undeveloped basement...when it gets developed (soon I hope) It'll be around 2200sq. feet.
2. What is the coolest thing YOU think you own and would like to share with us?
I own a Red Hats of Courage handcrafted ornament that is #1/1464.
I got it just before the World Trade Center was attacked and I look at it every day to remind me of what strength people have hidden beneath them. When we think we have nothing left to give, we will still reach a little further inside ourselves and give more.
3. Do you have any undiscovered or hidden talents? If so, what?
I haven't found the undiscovered talents yet...but I am a good public speaker and was told more than once to become a comedian. Personally, I have no idea what they are talking about...
4. Using no more than 10 nouns, and ONLY nouns, describe yourself. You may explain your choices or not as you see fit.
#1 Mom: speaks for itself.
#2 Daughter: see above.
#3 Sister: I have 5 siblings.
#4 Survivor: I've dealt with a lot and lets leave it at that.
#5 Friend: What can I say? I have freakishly big shoulders and big ears. They have to be good for something!
#6 Galaxy: I AM a bit out there some days!
#7 Dog: I'm loyal...tend to lean toward the female side of things depending on the pull of the moon or tides....(you may have to think about that to truly get it...) I like walks and a good belly rub. And hey...hanging your head out of the car window IS kinda fun!
#8 Wife: Can't believe I almost forgot that one! Oops!
#9 Bank machine: Seems like everyone thinks I just keep spouting that stuff out!
#10 Teacher: I get to share everything, that my kids learn, with my hubby but we also get to teach them more than school ever will.
5. What was your first car?
The first two cars I had were gifts. (One from my dad, the second from an ex boyfriend) I don't count them because I never felt that I worked for them.
The first car I paid for was a black two door Cutlass Oldsmobile. It was gorgeous! I had it painted and used to love the way it could go from 0 to 100 kms.I had so many people try to buy that car from me. Unfortunately, when I had my son we had to get a more practical vehicle.
6. Do you have any pets? If so, what?
Yes..if you can call her that...she's more like family. We have a chocolate English Cocker Spaniel. (They are like the American ones except they have longer snouts and are not high strung.)
She was a stray we found at the SPCA. She had a very bad case of kennel cough, matted fur that was so bad we had to shave her,had infections in her eyes and kidneys and was skin and bones. She was listless and even the vet said that she thought this dog might just be too sick to adopt.
Luckily, we refused to give her back and nursed her back to health. Within four weeks she was almost perfectly healthy and the vet told us that she had chosen us not the other way around. She said that it was so nice to see a family belong to a dog. And that we do.
7. What's your favorite restaurant?
I love Hi's steak house in downtown Calgary. The steak is so tender you cut it with a butter knife.
I also like East side Marios and Wendy's for fast food. (For those who remember I still haven't eaten at McDonalds in three years and no, they still haven't responded back to my phone calls or letters to apologize!)
8. If you could have plastic surgery right now and change anything about yourself, what would you change?
Oh my! So much to do so little time! I'd just take off a little here and a lot there. I'm not really that vain but would love to have a trimmer tummy and thinner thighs. Maybe a breast reduction so I can fit into some decent clothes.(Was that a collective gasp from the male readers?)
9. What is the most you've ever eaten in one sitting?
Ok, there is a story here. I was in my second year university and living in co-ed dorms. I had just broke the 100 pound mark and was bragging to the hockey players next door about how hungry I was and how much I could eat at that moment.
At some point a bet was placed and the next thing I know I have 4 kids meals from Burger King sitting in front of me. If I eat it all I win the meals plus $10. If I lose I buy them and owe them $10. I ate 4 burgers, four orders of fries and drank 4 pop and won the $10. Braggart that I was I happened to say in passing that I wished I had a tub of ice cream to finish it all off with. A four liter tub of ice cream was purchased and was placed in front of me. With only a half hour to eat it all and $20 riding on it I finished it off with 10 minutes to go.
The only other time my friends talk about is the time I ate a dozen hot dogs and a couple of pop for lunch down at the Calgary Stampede.
If you're wondering...I don't normally eat like that...well...unless it's buffet and then you HAVE to because it's like you feel that you have to prove you can eat more than it cost you.
10. What has been your most scary moment in life?
When I went into labor with my second child.
She was supposed to be a stillborn and I was told I should abort at three months, after a blow to the stomach.
There wasn't even the slightest sign of life throughout the pregnancy. I was told there was a 10% chance that the baby survived the accident and I held on to that slim chance and hoped that it was meant to be. I guess I had resigned myself to the fact that the baby was dead but couldn't live with myself if I didn't try.
I remember going into labor at home and told my hubby that the contractions were 3 minutes apart and that we should drive to the hospital about 10 minutes away. I stopped to go into the bathroom and was shocked to see blood everywhere.
This was when it finally hit me that for nine months I had carried a dead baby. I was scared and knew it was time to face the reality of it all. We drove to the hospital and with in minutes I had delivered in the emergency room.( It was in my chart that the baby would be a stillborn.)
When they threw that little body on top of me I was sickened to think that they didn't just take the baby away. I looked into those open eyes and thought of all the what ifs and of all the things this little girl would never get to do.
Suddenly, she blinked and I called the doctor over. I couldn't believe that my baby had survived! The doctor laughed at me and said that she didn't have a way to tell me. That's when I saw the support team I had crying tears of happiness.
She had ten toes and ten fingers but that didn't matter. What mattered most was that I had stood my ground and put my faith in a higher power.
That was my scariest moment. Scarier then the time I almost drowned or the countless times I stopped to help an accident victim. Scarier than losing your self respect when it is taken from you. Standing up for what you believe is right and seeing it through to the end by far out beats anything. It was scary to trust God or fate...Whatever you want to call it and it was scary to know the time had come to face the consequences of your choices.
11. Do you follow trends?
Oh my no! Haven't you people seen what I look like! LOL! The running joke around here is that I hate to wear a name brand across my chest. They all buy me name brand socks now just so no one has to see them!
As for trends themselves...I may wear something from the trend but not the whole thing. You won't get me in bell bottoms again. They were bad enough the first time!
12. If you were told right now that you've won a 70 million dollar lottery, how would you spend the moolah?
Well, after the initial shock of it all I would probably move and get a more secluded place to live. Maybe buy some country...I'd pay off hubby's and my families bills and morgages and go on a shopping spree for the kids and nieces and nephews. Travel the world some and then start up a business and help out some charities.
13. Have you ever gone toilet-papering? If so, tell us:
No, this was the one thing I don't recall ever doing...besides...the lawyer recommended that I don't comment...
14. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I'd love to see Ireland and Scotland. It's always appealed to me.
15. Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
On a beach relaxing after a busy day of spending my 70 million dollars I won in the lottery.
Ok, ok , realistically, building our third and final house, running a business and being comfortable...but not rich...sigh...oh well...there's still tickets to be bought for the lottery.
16. Ever gotten ultimate revenge on someone?
Um..yes...but I don't know if I should brag about it. I was in a man hating phase and had heard about a guy in university who would brag about the girls he slept with ruining their reputations even if he never slept with them.
He had been after me a long time and so after being warned went into his dorm room and shut the door. We had been in there for a while and when I came out I stopped the first guy I saw and said that he wasn't "large" like he claimed to be. I suggested that maybe he wasn't straight because he had a hard time " proving himself."
This spread like wild fire and all the guys gave him such a hard time that he stopped bragging about the girls and left them alone. I became a sort of campus hero so to speak. Funny thing was, my reputation was untouched when I thought that it would be tainted for life.
Like I said I'm not proud of it but I am glad he stopped harassing those girls and ruining their reputations.
Well that's another 16 questions, Folks!
Hope you enjoyed it and don't hold any of it against me. Thanks again prelude99 for allowing me to join in this write off. It's been fun! I hope there will be another installment soon!
